What is this whole FA/Housing change thing that happened ED1 that told people their results early?
I’m applying ED2, what should I be looking for?

You can start by looking at: http://nyulocal.com/on-campus/2014/12/12/breaking-down-college-confidential/
Oh and just ignore the other two “myths”, one has been patched and one isn’t relevant anymore (they’re using Albert instead of email for decisions now).
You’ll going to have to do some research, I’d love to do a thread on everything we’ve been through in ED1. But it’s ED1, and the timeline is a little bit diffrent. You’re going to have to look into last year’s ED2 thread, or the year before that, and look for when people started receiving the change, what are the “waves”, etc. I had to look over hundreds of pages to get some idea of what was the FA Change and stuffs.
NYU is definitely the most active applicants forum in CC because of these “admission hints.” So it’ll be a pain in the backside trying to look through hundreds of pages. Futhermore, some didn’t get the FA Change/Housing Change by decision day and they were devastated, believed that they were rejected yet still held on to that little hope that all the theories were just bs.
I personally believe that the change theory is true, many would disagree. But be careful when you go down that road. Believing in the FA Change can be very painful. You either choose to be active here on College Confidential, or don’t visit the site at all and patiently wait for your decisions.
Good luck.
I personally think that the Housing Change may be a better indication of whether or not you got in. I didn’t get the FA change at all, but on the night before decisions came out, I saw that I had the Housing Change and I was accepted.
But in all honesty, you shouldn’t worry about the FA change or the Housing Change because they’re only going to stress you out. I know it’s easier said than done but it really isn’t worth worrying about.
Good luck!
I got into Stern ED1 but didn’t get the FA/Housing change. At the same time, I didn’t really check my NYU albert portal that often so I may have gotten it without realizing. Regardless, I wouldn’t stress about it too much if I were you. If you get in, then great! If not, there’s always other great places to look out for!
OK so honestly, I have read through almost every thread here regarding of those hints. Also, I was already rejected last year from NYU and people mostly focused only on this FA change. FA change is very inaccurate, and some people got a change and were still rejected.
This year, as I have seen, people started to focus on this housing change, which basically, people last year did not notice that much. I am an applicant this year as EDII and yesterday I have freaked out, becvause literally I did not know why already I have an access to make a housing application. However, the most important is the status - now, you probably have UNDERGRADUATE, and the night before admission decisions, the status might change to FRESHMAN. this is the best indication that probably you got admitted. however, do not count that much on it.
the last important thing are those waves in which rejections/acceptances come. they do not come in one wave. last year, ED2 applicants started to receive their rejections at 13th of Feb, at midnight EST. first wave ended at around 3 am. second wave of rejections started around 10 am and ended up around 2 pm. it was said, that anybody who did not receive one’s admission decision until 3 pm, WAS SAFE. and that was the best indication ever, because after 3 pm only aceeptance letters were sentl. also, at this time, on Albert account, students were able to see this beautiful, impressing, precious GREEN BUTTON that definitely indicated about an admission + there were green events posted on Albert due to their program to which they have applied.
This year it is said, that ED2 applicants will receive their admission decisions around 5pm EST on 15th of Feb. Personally, I hope that they will not send them before that day (as they did last year). So acceptance letters will come as the last ones. If you guys will receive an email with a caption of “NYU ADMISSIONS DECISION” around this 5pm, you can be sure that it is a rejection. People who will be about to get their acceptance letters, they will probably get them at night (EST) on 16th of Feb.
Good luck to you guys and for me because this time I gotta do it.
