I'm applying to Yale, Duke, Williams, Cornell, and Penn. Yale wants Canadian students to convert everything into USD at the rate of 0.65 USD = 1.00 CDN, but Cornell wants students to leave everything in CND and they'll convert. What do I do for the online profile? Do I do what Yale wants or what Cornell wants? Or is it possible to fill out the profile multiple times, each time filling in different numbers?

Are you sure it's 0.65?

For what it's worth, when I filled out the CSS (I'm assuming that's what you mean by FA profile) for Cornell last year, I converted everything to USD

I would say convert to USD, and mention that you converted. Make sure to give the rate of conversion that you used as well.

ragingmen, what was the rate you used?

and yes, Yale wants everything converted at 0.65, unbelievable at first, I know :D

I believe it was somewhere around 0.8 - .83

0.65???

wow

1.00 CAD = .85 USD

Just a few months ago it was 1.00 CAD = .91 USD

go to www.oanda.com/convert/classic and use their converter

so it's fine to convert at 0.65 and tell the people at Cornell that I converted at 0.65 even though Cornell specifies to leave everything in CAD?

are you talking about the CSS profile or FASFA? B/C FASFA we (Canadians) dont have to do. If you're talking aobut the CSS, then it gives you instructiuons on how to complete is on the CB website... so I went with that.

If your info is correct, Yale is using 10-year-old exchange rates. One Cnd dollar is currently worth approximately 0.85 US$. Yale's apparent lack of awareness of current exchange rates is certainly at odds with the image of a "global university" as depicted in institutional ads.
