Facebook/Myspace warning

If you like to put info about yourself on the social net sites, read this. Survey shows at least 10% of college admissions officers are now going to those sites to check on applicants and likely more will do the same in the future, and 38% of those who look came away with negative opinions about applicants:

NACAC Colleges peeking at applicants? social sites

I can't imagine how foolish kids are today...I work for a fortune 5 and you know we look at these things before hiring. So nice to see a picture of an applicant blitzed out of their mind in an apparent drunken binge. Youy get a better feel for people when they let their hair down, like they do on these social sites. I have warned my children about these sites and hopefully they listened. For example what if - you went through law school and were applyin for the bar and they saw th eapplicant smoking what appears to be pot or doing drugs? I think you are in for a rocky ride in terms of getting admitted to a state bar. I would urge kids to really think about what they are doing here.
