That huge group is almost up to half a million :)

soon they will start saying who's profiles you look at, who rejects you as a firend, and who you msg. that is way too much info, even for an online community. i think the person who invented it wanted to stalk some people with more ease, and what better way to do so than document everything everyone does on facebook. i dont care that X wrote on Y's wall. i dont care that people broke up. i dont know why anyone cares and it takes up most of my home page which ****es me off. i guess im smarter than everyone, and delete my feeds, or whatever it's called. to do so, go to your profile, and under minifeeds you can delete all the ones you want. maybe we can stop it that way when everyone deletes their feeds.

If you refresh the page...you will notice that several hundred people joined the group. Now if we could all come together for a good cause...

The News Feed thing is ridiculous, yes, but did you guys also notice that you can--just like with your political affiliation--now input your religious affiliation?? Granted, it's optional, but I still think they're going to far and this is another reason why. They never should have created a HS facebook. They never should have merged the two versions (and added location/corporations too) and now these two new changes take the cake! Facebook, you were perfect as is.

Why do people care so much? Its a social networking website, not a privacy watchgroup. If you don't like the newsfeed and you're concerned about your privacy then delete your stories so people can't see or get off facebook. I love these people that complain about privacy and then go ahead and post hundreds of personal pictures and write on everyone's walls about their next party and half their friends are complete strangers. Its the internet, don't post crap that you don't want others to see, use your own discretion, it's not facebook's job to monitor that.

I personally think it's not the greatest idea, but it's okay and I can live with it. This morning I used it to find out that one of my friends dog died, which I never would have know if I had to look at all my friends profiles one by one.

it's hilarious to reload the page on the group that has more than 500,000 members in it...there are about 3 new members every second. craaayyyzaaayyy.

I just looked at the newsfeed thing and I think its nothing compared to myspace. Myspace is much more intrusive because people post up the date, time, and place of where they are going to be and anyone can look.

Atleast myspace doesn't tell you what someone else commented on someone else's wall. That's taking it way too far

actually, just like facebook, you can make your profile only visible to friends. not only that, but you can make it so that someone can only request to add you as a friend if they know a. your email or b. your last name.

so it's only more intrusive if you let it be. facebook isn't even giving us a choice.

Due to the obvious opposition to the news feed do you think they'll actually take heed and change it back?

I hope so.

I agree the notice about people writing on each other's wall is over the top, but ask yourself honestly why you change something on facebook. Most likely, it's so other people will see it.

remember you can always delete your account (I know people who have done this)

^the problem isn't that people don't want facebook anymore, it's that they want the news feed gone.

lets face it, we're not all ridiculously good friends with everyone we've friended on facebook. i mean, some may be classmates or old high school friends you like to say hi once in a while too. so we all assume these people won't be looking at our wall all the time. so changing something on our wall is for those who we assume or know will most likely see it. now everyone and their mama can see what everyone does.

seriously, i don't care what one of my friends posted on someone else's wall. completely not necessary.

For example, if I want to add a song to "my favorite music" it is so that maybe two friends who actually are interested in what music I like, can come to my page, and see what music I like. With news feed, now adding a song is broadcasted on the HOME PAGE of my other 500 friends.*

*note: numbers used in this post have been modified to protect the privacy of the user.

how would those two friends know you added a cool song they might like if all they saw was that you updated 2 hours ago and they had dozens of other friends each to keep track of? with the new features, it takes minimal effort on your friends part to find out what music you like.

and everyone else who can see the song you added? well if it's something they like, they'll probably post on your wall and tell you you have good taste. and if they don't care, they don't care and will leave you alone.

(generally, i don't think it should be a big deal but take it how you want..)

And as the other thread on cc states they are now selling your information to everybody that will pay. Go under privacy look at the last thing and it is checked that you agree to let them sell your info.Everyone should uncheck this.

They won't. But why would they need to? When they feel like checking up on my favorite music, they'll click on my profile to see it. Do they need to know when I add a song EXACTLY WHEN I add it? No. They need to know when they want to know, and when they want to know they click on my profile.

With the new features it takes minimal effort to find out what music I like...hmm...less than the effort it takes to click once on my profile? Come on.

Let's not forget the other 500 friends who couldn't care less yet their homepage is cluttered with useless info like this.

edit: wait this post is useless, looks like a lot of stuff got changed today on facebook

If you go look at your home page now, there's a long letter from the creator of facebook. You can now edit what shows up on your news feed and mini feed on your privacy page.
