<p>If you Google my daughter's name, one person with the same name comes up, and has a facebook that is viewable by the public. Here's the problem: The girl looks like she is 18-20 BUT her profile is this...She has a pierced lip in her profile picture. Her profile and photos are filled with drinking, swearing, pictures of her making out with her boyfriend, and a halloween costume that covers 1/10th of her body. Her "likes" are tattoos, motorcycles, Beavis and Butthead, kissing in the rain, and more. Her favorite books are "Twilight" (this is the best of everything). Her location is "Everywhere, Worldwide". And she speaks English and sarcasm. Nothing on the profile gives an indicator of where she is from or where (or if) she goes to school.</p>

<p>I know there is talk of adcoms looking for applicants on facebook.</p>

<p>I hope that they don't think this girl is my daughter. I don't care what this girl likes or doesn't, I just don't want my daughter to be confused as something she is not. </p>

<p>If they can't be sure who this person is, do you think they will just disregard it? I'm hoping so! :)</p>

<p>I have also heard of occassions in which adcoms browse social platforms but I am quite close to one of my school’s adcom and due to the number of applications received it is actually impossible to dedicate so much time and effort in tracking down each applicants social profile on the internet.
I have heard of much more concrete accounts in which employers actively conduct research on their applicants.
Ultimately, I do not think you should worry too much about it. (Not to mention the fact that there is not much you can do about it.)</p>

<p>That is indeed an unfortunate situation for your daughter. And I understand that you do not want people to mistake your daughter for someone else, but there is no need to be that judgemental.</p>

<p>Yeah when you google my name you find some strange people too. Like really strange actually. And my name is not that common.</p>

<p>I’m hoping they look for location or something before assuming that person is you. What happens when you google your daughters names and the name of her high school/hometown? That can be a common way to google someone too.</p>
