when yo guys are talking about the ratio, does faculty include profs+tas or is it just profs???

its just professors, but it's a misleading number. while having a low student faculty ratio can mean that classes are smaller, it can also just mean that there are some professors who teach very little and do a lot of research.

Also be wary of schools with really low student facult ratios that don't publish CDSs. They could be beefing that number up with TAs, including part time or non teaching professors, or including med and law schools which generally have lower student:faculty ratios than the rest of a school, and arn't supposed to be included when calculating the number. I could be wrong, but I just have a hard time believing a school like UPenn is sitting on 1700+- full time teaching professors to give it that 6:1 undergrad student faculty ratio.
