<p>how helpful is it to have the faculty at yale putting a word in for you? Would it make a difference in admissions? Or could the adcoms care less?

<p>DON'T do it if it sounds like they don't know you - if they do know you well, and can put good merit in for you, then go for it. every little bit helps.</p>
<p>Since Yale doesn't accept DVD's I asked a friend of mine (film studies major at yale) to give me contacts for film professors. I emailed, sent my DVD, and got a short letter sent over (not a formal rec "like10thousand"). I now a really talented musician who was invited on campus to audition (he plays the cello...a major instrument on campus, check out the cello choir) Anyway, off topic. My friend's audition led to a letter...he eventually was rejected by harvard, accepted at yale...</p>
