I am currently a senior in high school, whose top choice is Baylor. I am eligible to go to the Invitation to Excellence event and I was wondering if any one knew what the Faculty scholarship was all about? How much is it? How do we apply? How many people typically get it? Is it need based? What are the typical credentials of the winners (GPA, rank, ACT/SAT)? Also, when are the winners notified?
I know they said information will be given to attendees of the Invitation to Excellence, but I’m really anxious about how I’m going to pay the $55,000 a year at Baylor.
No I was just looking at their website when I was applying for single choice early admission. But the deadline for excellence for the fall one is soon.
I believe the Faculty Scholarship covers tuition (and if you are a NMF, it translates to a full ride when stacked with that scholarship.) After attending Invitation to Excellence, there is an essay to be written, and recipients are announced a few weeks later. I to E is a nice event, and the quality of the candidates for the scholarship is high.
My daughter attended last year and was not chosen. She had exceptionally high stats, and received highly competitive scholarships at other schools (and is currently attending Princeton.) I’m not really sure what they are looking for in candidates for the scholarship, but the event is certainly worth attending!
@GoodGrief16 do you mind if I ask what your daughters stats were? I’m planning on attending and subsequently applying for the Faculty Scholarship as well.
2350 SAT, 4.0 unweighted, 4 SAT subj tests, all above 730, 6 APs/“5” on all exams, NMSF (at that time), senior level figure skater, varsity cross country running/State champs qualifier/captain, wilderness/trail racer, significant meaningful community service, from a low population state. She eventually became a National Merit Scholar, US Presidential scholar finalist (one of six for our state), was offered full ride Stamps scholarship at Ga Tech, many other offers. But no Faculty Scholarship.
