After doing some basic research, I understand that it is quite normal for a college to make changes to a student's FAFSA if they find discrepencies between that form and submitted tax documents. I cannot determine, however, if schools make changes to ANY applicant's FAFSA, to only students who are offered admittance, or some combination of the two. Any ideas?

They change it on any student’s FAFSA if they find a discrepancy. It is a federal requirement that they make corrections if they see an error.

There is a recent post where the student decided not to attend a school and his FAFSA was changed by that school though he never got an FA offer once they realized he was not going to attend.

Thanks for the info! A change was made to my daughter’s FAFSA yesterday by a school she is on a waitlist for and that made me curious about the process. Appreciate your help!
