Okay, I filled out my FAFSA bright and early this morning, but I'm worried that something is wrong.

Everyone is always talking about declaring your assets and stuff, but when I filled my FAFSA out, they didn't ask me about it. They didn't even ask for MY personal income. After I put down my widowed mother's income (17k) and tax filing status (1040A), it said I was able to skip questions. This is my third time filling FAFSA and it's always let me skip questions. I've never been asked for any assets or bank accounts, and I've gotten full Pell and SEOG both times.

I assume this is all because my mother makes only 17k a year and because we qualify for an automatic EFC of 0 due to this. Is this correct? Am I doing anything wrong?

Thanks. I'm totally falling victim to the FAFSA Fright.

Sorry i have an urgent question.
If i change(update) the common app essay for another college can i change the topic too?

Harvestmoon, you are correct. You are qualifying for the auto 0 EFC which doesn’t require asset info.

Odise, start your own thread with your question in the proper forum. It’s not related to the OP’s question and isn’t about finaid.

Asset & other income questions are skipped because you qualify for “auto 0 efc” See [The NHHEAF Network Organizations- Financial Aid & Money Matters: Zero EFC](http://www.nhheaf.org/index.asp?page=pay_zeroefc)

Thanks so much! I just wanted to be sure.

Happy New Year!

i heard that some schools have an internal form asking/looking for assets outside zero efc o other EFC’s to qualify for SEOG and other internal grants…it sounds like they are trying to get/pry CSS profile info without being a profile school. Does anyone know about this practice?
