Hi, I am applying for FAFSA and I heard that the order of the colleges you list matters. I was wondering if someone could help me. I am unsure of the order I should list the following colleges: NYU, Binghamton University, Stony Brook University, University of Rochester, and University at Buffalo.
List your in-state public Us at the top in order of preference in case it makes a difference in state aid. Otherwise it doesn’t matter. The colleges will no longer be able to see the order. Only specific state/federal organizations can.
@sybbie719, is it important for this student to list SUNYs first in case he qualifies for NY TAP?
It does not matter because they are NYS schools
Alphabetical
@Youdon’tsay why do you say to list them in alphabetical, order? As of this year, other colleges will not see where else your FAFSA is submitted. So,why would ABC order matter?
the FAFSA does not see the order you put the schools into. While HESC does see the order it it only takes one school. You finalize your school with HESC once you know exactly where you are going. The amount of NYS TAP is going to be the same no matter which school you attend. None of the schools listed meet 100% demonstrated need. Even if admitted through EOP(Suny) there will be a gap
Call me paranoid! hahaha
