What is the difference between the two?
I have to submit an application for a school today that requires the CSS Profile, but I already filled out and submitted the FAFSA to all the schools I am applying to. The information seemed to be pretty much the same. Do I need to submit the CSS to schools that require it if I have already sent them the FAFSA? I do not want to spend $25 if I do not have to.
Yes, you must submit the CSS to the schools on this list. That is how they determine institutional aid. It has more detail than the FAFSA.

Yes, and they aren’t the same. The profile is much more detailed, allow enough time.
@musicmerit Do you know if all the colleges on that list require it? Some of the schools I applied to are on that list but they do not have the CSS profile listed on their application checklists or requirements. I do not want to send it to all of them if I do not have to.
If they have a code number they probably require it. If you are in doubt call the school FA office.l
Rely on the school’s own websites. If in doubt, contact the schools. Profile would be listed on financial aid checklists and requirements, not necessarily application checklists.
Okay thank you. I checked the financial aid pages for each school and ended up having to send to profile out to a few more colleges than I thought I had to. It’s kind of a bummer because I had to spend money I was going to use to go out this weekend, but an acceptance letter and financial aid are worth it, I guess.
