I plan on applying EDII to Vanderbilt; however, if i get in, I fear that I may not be able to pay for it.

I was wondering how your guys' Fafsa EFC compared to how much you actually got, financially, from Vanderbilt. Thanks.

I was wondering how your guys' Fafsa EFC compared to how much you actually got, financially, from Vanderbilt. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, Vanderbilt’s EFC was almost identical to my FAFSA EFC. They consider the CSS as well which gives information not provided by FAFSA, so they may end up slightly different. Vandy overestimates their cost of attendance though, so we actually ended up paying less than the FAFSA EFC suggested.

The Vandy NPC was within $1000 of the actual aid offer for us, but this was $20,000 different from FAFSA EFC.

<a href=“Net Price Calculator”>Net Price Calculator;

My son just finished freshman year at Vandy.

Based on pure Fasfa we are eligible for next to nothing from any college. Family income > $150,000. However, Vandy awarded my son about $37,000 year financial aid (approx. 3K was work study). I think this was because I have 3 other kids in private High School with tuition of about $40K. I can say that I was surprised by the aid that was offered when he got his acceptance letter (winter of 2011). This aid was not based on anything other than the CSS Profile information. The Vandy aid was far more than any other school (excluding scholarships).

Fortunately we did not have to use this financial aid becaase he has a full scholarship from another source.

I think if you have a low EFC, it will be similar to Vandy’s offer. If you have a high EFC, it becomes much less accurate (?).

Vandy’s efc was about 10k more than FAFSA’s for me because my family has a lot of money in assets which the CSS accounts for while the FAFSA only considers taxes/income(if I’m not mistaken?). Nevertheless, my package was amazing. It wasn’t perfect but easily affordable for my family.

Ok. Awesome. Thanks guys.

I was also wondering if you guys had experimented with the Net Price Calculator before applying to Vanderbilt and how this related to your financial aid package.

Sorry for all the questions, but thanks!

The aid I got was also significantly higher than I expected to receive based on my FAFSA EFC. I want to say about 20K higher, actually!
