Is the Middle Class Scholarship (MSC) considered “Federal Student Aid”?

I know it comes from the state government (California), not the federal government, but is aid and is facilitated through the filing of the FAFSA.

If I HAVE received the MCS, and for the sake of the question on the FAFSA, “Have you ever received federal student aid?” how should I answer that question?

If it’s from a state, it’s not federal student aid.

Thank you for responding. I also called the State Student Aid Commission and they said that the answer is no.

Did you ever receive a Pell grant, SEOG, work study, or federal loan? That’s all federal aid.

No, the only thing on your list that was offered in the past was an unsubsidized loan. I did not take the loan.
