FAFSA/filing taxes

Hey guys. I kind of need some direction. I received a Form 1098-T from the school. I was wondering what it is for and should I give it to my mom before she file her taxes?

Also, I get work study and have been working since September. So far my earnings for sept to december is within my work study money limit. So I'm wondering if this should be listed as part of my student income when filing my FAFSA. Thank you.

the 1098-t tells how much tuition was and if any of it was covered by scholarships. Yes, give it to your mom, she may be able to use it for a Hope or lifetime learning or Education tax credit.

Your work study is reported as income when you do taxes and as earned income on Fafsa, but then the Fafsa will ask you how much of your earnings come from work study. If that was your only income, put it in that answer also. Work study does not count towards the max a student can earn before the govt starts adding 50% of your income (over about 4K) to the EFC
