Anyone else having trouble logging in to Fafsa.gov today? It is reminiscent of the common app issues my D had in November when that site was acting up,freezing, getting overloaded etc..

Big on my "to do" list today was get a big chunk of this dreaded Fafsa done and I keep getting an error message that the site is not available at this time

It’s probably being flood though I haven’t had any issues.

Really, people make a huge deal out of the FAFSA, but unless your finances are really complicated it’s not a hard form to fill out. People blow it out of proportion IMO. Now the PROFILE OTOH…

Twins, that is what is happening to me…I have signed in so far 4 times! Each time I am able to add in a few bits of info and then it kicks me out and says it is no longer available

Same here

Also every time you want to log back in it asks you name, last name, SS, date of birth. Why won’t they let you login with user name and password is beyond me.

At both of the “college financial nights” hosted by my Ds High School the High School GC strongly recommended filling it out on New Years Day so Im a bit confused as to why she said that if its not officially open yet…no problem though; I will just work on it this coming weekend and enjoy the rest of my day today!

Shrug It is open today for 2014-2015. Like others, I have been kicked out a few times. I am most of the way through, just gotta find D2’s last paystub to estimate her income… Just save frequently. Also, I had trouble with Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7. When I got to the part to search for colleges, it said it was finding search results, but the box below was empty… even when I knew the school #. I switched to Chrome, and the search worked fine.

This is what happens when people give the foolish advice that everyone has to file FAFSA the first possible moment or they won’t get the maximum FA. I’d like to hear ANY example of someone losing FA because they filed on Jan., 3. Such nonsense. Take a breath. Wait a day or two. It’ll be fine.

I agree why the RUSH. Plus does everyone filling already knows their TAX info for 2013 or its not needed to file for FAFSA. I am a parent and will get my info around 3rd week of Jan and my child has no income to report…

I have my own business, so the info I need to make a close estimate. Plus, my accounts tend to be at low balances around this time of year, so I like to get the CSS & FAFSA done in the first few days of January. And have time off from work to do it… the stars are aligned…

I found that most of the time refreshing the page once or twice got rid of the error message. A couple of times it didn’t, but most of the time I was able to move ahead.

Just submitted my 2014-15 FAFSA renewal. The system kicked me out about 10 times…but it’s in now. Will update the FAFSA form online after I complete and file my income taxes.
