Last Fall I updated my fafsa with my mom, as I’ll be attending UC this fall 2020. I SIR’d to UCSC a few weeks ago and received my financial aid package from them. I just got off the waitlist for UCSB and Davis and both schools are saying that financial aid is not available because they are unable to match my record to a fafsa application??? I logged onto fafsa and was prompted with a message to start my 2020-2021 fafsa application!! But I did it last fall! What happened and is it too late to get financial aid from Davis and Santa Barbara??
Did you access your 2020-2021 FAFSA…and seek to amend it or view it?
You need to make a phone call. If your FAFSA was processed and used for one UC…it should be able to be for the others.
When you originally submitted, did you submit to all of these colleges? Are you sure?
What date did you do it? You say fall, but you know the dates, right?
@thumper1 I’m not sure I understand what you mean by seeking to amend or view it. I just logged onto my FAFSA and there was nothing to see by a section prompting my to start my 2020 - 2021 FAFSA.
If FAFSA is giving me an option to file for 2020-2021 does that mean I can start over and still get some aid?
Yes, I’m positive I added every college! I’ll make a phone call on Monday.
@Sybylla I have a confirmation from 02/28/2020 saying that it was successfully processed and made available to my schools. I don’t remember the date I actually filled out the application in the fall though. It was around November.
I want to SIR to UC Davis but I need to see what my aid looks like since there’s no way I can afford tuition/potential housing without it…
Did you sign the FAFSA using FSA IDs, or did you send in a paper signature page?
@kelsmom FSA IDs. Does it matter?
I would try logging into your FAFSA using a different browser. See what happens.
Fafsa doesn’t work for me on Firefox, only on Internet Explorer for some reason.
Hi everyone, thanks for all your sensible comments. Apparently UCSB made an error on their end and Davis simply hasn’t released my financial aid package yet (I will be getting it tomorrow). I’m still unable to view my 2020-2021 FAFSA and I don’t know why, however, I guess I’m not actually going to be facing disaster as I initially panicked over. Thank you!
I thought maybe the reason you can’t see your FAFSA is due to a paper signature page. Since it’s not, I am guessing you either need to use a different browser (the government likes Internet Explorer, and it should work with that). Otherwise, make sure you are looking on the correct website: https://fafsa.ed.gov/spa/fafsa/#/LOGIN?locale=en_US.
