I was shocked how high our EFC was -- it was about 60% household income. I thought that might be due to having a family member working at a college with tuition exchange. Turns out, FAFSA notified me today (4/9!) they made "an electronic error" and the new EFC is more like 25%. They said they would notify the schools. Think it will make much difference? Haven't they left it kind of late?

This is frustrating and confusing. I'm kicking myself for not calling them on that original EFC.

i am pretty sure that the colleges you applied for will up the amount of aid they gave you since it was fafsa's mistake and not your own. if not you can always call and ask for more aid...

you should always do the online estimators first. That would have given you a clue as to what your EFC should have been.

You should definitely call any schools that have or will be sending FA offers for the upcoming year
