A question

Does anyone know if checking the on campus or off campus option in the FAFSA changes the EFC?

Sons will probably move off campus next year and I am curious.

Thanks in advance

that has nothing to do with what your EFC will be. On or off campus will have the same EFC

Your cost of attendance will be affected...but not your EFC. Check your school's website. There should be a cost of attendance for on campus, off campus, and commuters (living at home with parents). Typically the on/off campus cost of attendance is very close. The cost of attendance for students living at home is typically less.

So while this won't make your EFC different, it could affect the amount of aid you receive. If it costs less to live at home with parents...the school would adjust the financial aid to reflect that in most cases.
