To file the FAFSA, I need a pin and one of my parents does as well right? I just want to make sure so when I can start it in a few days I'm good to go.

Yes.

You can get the PIN ahead of time.

Okay thanks! I’m just waiting for them to processed and what not now. One other question, how am I supposed to have the 2014 tax returns by February 15? My mom won’t even be able to send them off until the first week of February at the earliest. Every college seems to want these, but neither my mom or I understand how we’re supposed to have them so early.

If your mim has Her taxes complete by the beginning of February, you will HAVE them then to send. You will also be able to link to the IRS Data Retrieval Tool once your taxes are complete.

I understand that for the fafsa you can use estimates until they are completely done and then fix it. But several schools want the forms themselves by the 15th, not just the fafsa. Am I missing something? Is it just the information that’ll be on it that they want?

I’m looking at Lehigh’s list of forms they want and my mom doesn’t understand how she will have them to send that early http://www.lehigh.edu/~infao/forms/15_16/1516_FR_Checklist_%20Handout.pdf

When does your mom plan to complete her taxes?

If you have a question about this, contact the college directly and ask them. They will tell you whether this is a firm deadline…or not.

As early as she can. But yeah I’ll talk to them and see what they say about the deadlines. Thanks for your help!
