My question is a little silly, but I'm really anxious about applying for financial aid because my family really needs it-- so, if you could please answer my questions and/or clarify, I will love you forever.

For the school year 2007-2008, we have to file a 2007-2008 FAFSA form, right? (And that's not available yet on the FAFSA website.) So when will the 07/08 FAFSA form be available? I read somewhere that the 07-08 forms won't be out until MID Janurary, and I have FAFSA deadlines on January 15th. I know colleges wouldn't ask you to do something that isn't possible... but ehto. Maybe somebody made a mistake?! But those FAFSA forms... they will be available before the 15th of Janurary with enough time to fill them in and then file them with the federal office, right?

Thanks to all who read this. I'm extremely skittish about financial aid right now.

You can file them January 1st. And you can do it online. You can get your pin numbers set up now. Also download current worksheets from the website so you can see what information you need to have and get it ready. Have you run one of the EFC estimate calculators yet? This site has one and finaid does also. Good luck.

So, most definintely-- the 07-08 FAFSA will be available Jan. 1st?

And thanks for the other pointers. I've run one of the EFC calcs already, and I'm set elsewhere. Thanks for the help!

Go to the following link:

http://www.ifap.ed.gov/IFAPWebApp/index.jsp

Under publications, click Fafsa and renewal fafsa, click on 2007/2008.

Fafsa applications are color coded each year. You are better off filing online. Click and download on the links for the web worksheets to get a head start. Only use these links as a draft. To my knowledge, the only difference between the mail in version and the online worksheet version is only the order of questions. Good luck.
