FAFSA Question

is it worth it to submit your FAFSA if you EFC is greater than $50K?

I always recommend folks complete the FAFSA at some point. You never know when an unforeseen circumstance (loss of parent income, illness, etc) will put a strain on your finances and ability to pay for college. If that happens, it is better to already have the finaid forms on file so that the school can reevaluate your situation. The last thing you will want to do if there is an issue is complete the FAFSA.

In addition, by completing the FAFSA, you will be eligible for a Stafford loan which is a lower interest loan in the student's name. Some families like to have their kids have some financial stake in their college educations.

Thanks Thumper. Not interested in the game, huh?

We did not fill out FAFSA last year when our son was applying to college. However, when we decided we wanted a loan, we found that the rates for the unsubsidized Stafford was less than PLUS loan rates. Also, S wanted to have first semester work free, and decided to take a loan too. So we filled out the FAFSA which indicated we were not eligible for aid by a long shot, but took the maximum STafford loan permitted. We are going to pay for half of S's loan.

Woody...I don't get this.

That answers the question, Thumper LOL! I am watching as I type this as my computer is in the family room within viewing distance of the TV. Cardinals just took their first timeout, second and goal.

Sorry! I just wondering how many are cruising CC while the Super Bowl is on. Personally, not interested but, good Lord, wasn't Bruce great!?

OT response...I only watch the superbowl for the 1/2 time show. It was TERRIFIC.
