I just started filling out info for FAFSA on the web. However, when I saved/signed off, I looked and the website was FAFSA4caster. Is this the right website to be on? I am freaking out because I just put in personal info inc. SSN. I am usually extremely careful but I had this website under my bookmarks, found it, and decided to start this process. Help!!

post the url you were using

FAFSA4caster - U.S. Department of Education appears legit

That is the exact site I was on.

Thank you, Sue.

FAFSA 4caster was created to help families figure out approximate EFCs early and its a great tool. It has been especially recommended for parents of juniors to help them see what their student's fianacial aid might look like their senior year, barring any extreme changes in a familiy's financial picture.

But remember that putting info into FAFSA4caster isn't the same as filling out the FAFSA. To do that, you need to go to FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

The info you put into the FAFSA4caster will be transferred over to the FAFSA, so you don't have to start from scratch, as long as you fill out your FAFSA4caster by early December. (At least, that's how it's supposed to work, according to the 4caster documentation.)

Thank you so much everyone. I feel much better.
