Failed a class, and 2 D's

Hi, I'm a sophomore at BU doing biomedical engineering, and I have been doing really bad. I now have a 1.81 GPA after failing physics 2, and getting 2 D's. I'm not really looking for tips or advice about whether this is the major for me, I just need to know if it's possible to bring my grade back up to at least a 2.7. Does anyone have any inspirational stories? I just need someone to talk to right now.

Just use a GPA calculator, or easily make one in excel, and put in the amount of credits you have now with your gpa, and the amount of credits you will have with a realistic gpa and see what it will take to get your overall 2.7. The goal seek feature in excel could easily do this.

It was a long time ago but I was an undergrad engineering major and went to a school that has “+” and “-” grades. My first two years I received all the low grades other than a F … I got at least one D-, D, D+, C-, C, and C+ … my cum wasn’t quite as long as yours but it wasn’t very good. I woke up my junior and received very good grades the rest of the way and ended up with a 2.98 … and ended up going to two excellent grad schools. For me I needed some maturity to do better but also when I got into my major I was really drawn into my classes for the first time. Good luck!

I’m in the exact same boat as you man. I looked at a gpa calculater though and in about 3 or 4 more semesters or straight A’s and maybe a B or 2, you could have a 3.0. A 2.7 would probs be a semester less.
I’m at GaTech though and we don’t have the “+” or “-” grades like some schools do. Not sure if BU is the same

of straight A’s*

I had 3 F’s, 11 D’s and 9 C’s with a token A or B here and there. I’ve got 84 new credits of straight A’s now. Need another 26 or so before I clear 3.0. Is it possible to do the same? Sure. Do I recommend the path I took? No. Do yourself a favor and stop getting bad grades now :-P

Thank you all for replying to this post, it really puts me at ease seeing I’m not the only one, it doesn’t help when your academic office just blatantly implies that you’re too “stupid” to do this major and advises you to just switch.
