I have been academically dismissed from the University of Maryland, College Park. I am planning on attending my local community college for 1 or 2 years and re-applying to UMD as well as other schools. Do you think I will be re-accepted into UMD if I earn excellent grades in community college? Also, will my GPA start over or will it just add on?

Under age drunk? Or did some, thing wrong? I don’t know if UMD will accept again since you were academically dismissed

GPA doesn’t transfer, but credit hours do. So if you get great grades at your local community college, you could get re-admitted. HOWEVER, GPA doesn’t transfer, but credit hours do. So if you get great grades at your local community college, you could get re-admitted. HOWEVER, I would check with UMD academic policies to check if you can be re-admitted. If they have some sort of policy against the academically dismissed, then there’s your answer.

Your umd gpa stays with umd. IF you can get back in after appealing to the faculty petition board you still have those grades on your permanent umd record. However, they do have a process for clemency (up to 16 credits) through an appeal to your dean if you’ve been away from umd 5 calendar years. Regardless, you have an uphill battle ahead for many years. I suggest you try a different path for now and come back to school when it will be rewarding and not just something to muddle through for pride.
