Hey. Is it possible to fake additional recommendations on the Commonapp?
Basically, i want to write my own recommendations. So i was thinking I could create fake email id’s and then mention them on the Commonapp and give myself recommendations by creating recommender accounts using those fake email id’s. That way i could give myself a ‘debate coach’, ‘community service head’, ‘peer’ recommendation.
This way by giving additional recommendations I can add greater depth to my application, and I won’t repeat stuff already mentioned in other recommendations/essays… and this might impress admission officers.
But, Is this method of giving recommendations feasible? Will it work? Do the universities have any way of knowing? Do they check to confirm the existence of the recommender? If so, then how do they check? Do they call every single applicants recommender (even though they don’t ask for phone number and contact details of recommender on commonapp)…?
I can’t think of any reason they would call and confirm every single recommender of every single applicant especially when they have 35,000 applications to go through, and spend only like 15 mins on each application?
So what i want to know is… will it work, or not?
Please don’t go and say ‘It’s immoral… very bad… you’ll feel guilty if you get in… you’ll regret your entire life’… I seriously don’t care. Just tell me if it will work… or will they find out somehow?
Yes, i know if they FIND OUT after i get in, they may ‘rescind’ my offer, but all i am concerned with is GETTING IN. I know they won’t worry about recommendations of a person who has gotten in… they have other things to worry about.
