If you plan on taking a course at UC Davis, then yes, the school should be added as a campus you will be attending.

UCD Admissions,

what if you intend to take classes at the university of your attendance?
how then should you speculate which classes you intend to take.

for example: i applied for Philosophy at Berkeley and no prerequisite courses were articulated at either of the two CCC's i attended. if admitted to UCB, i'll take those courses in the summer. however, if denied, and say, admitted to UCLA, i'll be done with prereqs and will take other classes.

on the App Update, under the planned summer courses section, i said simply, "I hope to take classes at the UC of my attendance during Summer '09."

does that sound alright?

UCD Admissions- thanks so much for your input :)

pinkerfloyd,

The application update should be submitted to reflect your current plans. If you plan to do the UCB summer session route then you should file the update with that plan. If that plan later changes you will need to file the update again with the correct information. If it is unavailable, then you will need to contact the campus directly to report the update. I hope this helps.

the thing is, my plans to take classes at UCB are contingent upon my admission to UCB. you're saying that even though nothing is definite, i should still list those classes for UCB, as that's my first choice school?

I have the same concern... I wouldn't expect UCB, for example, to be very happy if I say I plan to attend UCLA summer session.

Has anybody ever done this on their application? If so, what happened?

can i re-update my information later on, say towards the end of april..if i decide to change a "planned course" or decide to take a summer class (elective).

I understand that your summer plans are contingent on your admissions to a certain campus. However the application update needs to be filed with your current plans. Since it seems the UCB route is your preferred plan, with the other as a back up plan, you should file the update with the UCB plan. If you find that you are not admitted to UCB and this plan changes, you will need to update all campuses that did admit you of this change. You will need to choose which information to provide knowing that the information is what we will be using to review your application.

You can continue to update your application using the application update form as long as it is available. I dont' recall it being available as late as April but you can try.

thank you, once again, for your prompt response.

i contacted the UC admissions office as well, and they gave me the same response.

however, even having gotten confirmation from both you and them, something still worries me a little:

when adding a school on the Application Update website so as to be able to select it from the drop down menu, this is the prompt:

"Enter the schools you attended for the term just completed and any school you are attending or plan to attend before you enroll at UC."

"... BEFORE you enroll at UC."

my final question to you: are you sure that despite that 'before', it's okay to add UCB?

i understand that you've basically answered this question.
for give my neuroticism.
thanks again.

Add "UCB Summer Session". Even if you take summer classes, you are not technically enrolled in the UC until the fall and are only considered a "Summer Session" student.

I took a course at UCLA last summer and reported it as "UCLA Summer Session" on the original application. Actually, on the original application, there was a drop-down box that gave that option. Weird that the box is not on the update form.

do you happen to know of a school code for that option?
i think they're six digits, or something..

^ u can go to collegeboard.com and find out the school code

couldn't find it and i'm feeling inadequate.
help?
