Just wondering...Is it common to send in your Fall 2008 grades? I'm not sure what schools require it. I think I saw on the MIT site that they want you to send in an updated transcript once its available.

If you are a borderline candidate, some schools' admission-committee may ask to look at your fall grades.

Otherwise, it's not part of their consideration. (But just like college-admissions, after acceptance to a grad-program, you still have to send official copies of your final transcripts -- no slacking off allowed!)

Some schools ask for the fall and last spring semester grades after you're accepted. Sort of like a proof of graduation. Others use it to check if you've passed some of their course pre-reqs for the program.
