Fall 2009 iowa transfer thread

I spoke to the admissions office today and they basically said that if I applied I would get in. So I will probably end up applying but my final decision has not been made yet. Any other people applying to Iowa Fall 2009 you can post your questions, comments, concerns, and dirty remarks here. Good luck to all.

I'm going to Iowa in the fall of '09. I'm looking forward to it but I'm unsure of which dorm I'm going to live in. Any info on the different residence halls?

Stay away from Parklawn and Mayflower. Some people like Mayflower because it is "apartment style" but fact is, it is too far from campus. You might as well get an apartment.

There is the west side and east side dorms. People say the west side (Hillcrest, Rienow, Slater and Quad) is better/cleaner whatever. I listened to people who said that and lived on that side. I then moved to the east side and quite frankly, I prefer the east side. It is NOT dirty, even Burge. The rooms are a bit more run down than any of the dorms on the west side, but it is not bad. I would recommend Currier actually. Some of the rooms tend to be a bit smaller, but it is not significantly smaller. It's not like you can fit much more stuff in a bigger room. Plus, Burge food is better than Hillcrest. The west side is a bit more, close knit i guess you can say because there is a field behind Quad that people like to go do things on like throw frisbee and has prettier scenery around it.

The east side dorms are so much closer to campus/downtown. The west side is a 10-15 min.- closer to 15 -walk, while the east side will take you from 1-10 minutes at the very most.

UPDATE- Iowa is too expensive. I won’t be going. :(

That sucks! What are you going to do instead?
