When I log on to Growl, it says I have a hold on my financial aid.

"Fall 2010 ACG GRANT 1 - Must have a Pell disbursement for this aid year"

This is what it says. I don't understand what this means or how to resolve this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you Pell eligible? You have to be Pell eligible to be eligible for the ACG.

Well I got a federal pell grant so I’m guessing I am.

Then you should be ok assuming you meet the academic requirements. It could be that they disburse the ACG later - my daughter has a couple of grants that disburse later than her other aid (the SMART grant and a state grant) because of things that they have to verify. I seem to remember her ACG disbursing later than other aid, but it was a while ago. In fact her first year ACG was awarded way later than her other aid. The second year I think it was at the same time but unfortunately you will only get the one year.

Ask your school if there is some problem.

Yeah, I have the same problem. Maybe it will be put on later because I received the Pell Grant too.

If you were awarded the Pell Grant then you will receive the ACG. That hold merely informs you–the student–that the ACG Grant will not be credited to your account until the funds from the Pell Grant has been disbursed and verified.
