Fall 2012 acceptance letters

Hi! Has anyone received an acceptance letter from Rhodes yet? All prospective students, freshman and transfer (like myself) are to be notified by April 1. I'm so anxious to get my letter! Has anyone been notified?

I’m told the decisions went in the mail last Friday. You should hear soon!

Thank you so much!!!

D got hers today. Accepted! (We live in NJ).

For anyone that might be curious, acceptance notifications are not posted on Rhodes BannerWeb.

I received my acceptance letter today : )

my S received his letter some time ago. It was dated Feb. 10th. He received the Diehl Scholarship with that letter.

Are you/your sons/daughters freshmen or transfer students?

I got mine today. They said they will tell me scholarship later.
Kinda pumped. I visited and had mixed thoughts. Maybe too fratty for me.
but we will see once the rest come in

My letter says that the committee likes me and feels that I would be a good contributor in Rhodes but due to my financial condition, they cannot enroll me “at the moment”. Being an international student, I am expected to contribute 30K per year, which is more that double the amount I can contribute; it says, if I am able to amass enough funds, I would be reconsidered.
This is plain sad.

^same verdict here!

my son is an incoming freshman. most likely will not attend. He rec’d more money for Baylor and is leaning that way.

My D got email notice on Mar 8,2012 and was informed that Financial Aid Package will be sent around April 1.
We are from China.

Should I be worried if I haven’t heard anything? I live in Alabama :/

For any transfers out there: I contacted admissions today and the rep that wrote me said transfer decisions have yet to be mailed.

I received a deferral letter in the mail today. My ACT is a 26 so it’s at the low end of the Rhodes mid-50% range, but my GPA is high and my list of ECs is long. I’m afraid they consider me too liberal (I’m founder and president of my college’s Gay-Straight Alliance and co-founder and Vice-president of our College Democrats). Anyway, I emailed the admissions rep for my region to see how I might improve my chances. Now I’m nervous, on top of anxious, to know my decision haha. So we’ll see where this goes… And by the way, does anyone know how soon after being deferred an applicant can know their final decision?

Sorry about your deferral, anthro4387. I hope you made the comments about Rhodes considering you “too liberal” in jest; surely you must know they would not have discriminated against you on those grounds.

For next year, Rhodes is offering themed “Pride” housing on campus (one floor of a dorm, I think) for LBGT students. My D, a sophomore at Rhodes, had similarly liberal ECs in HS (and has continued them at Rhodes).

i have yet to receive any correspondence from Rhodes. I applied in February for transfer in the fall. Not even a receipt of application. Do they send these? I don’t have a whole lot confidence that I will be accepted but a denial letter would at least be courteous. Any thoughts?

If you’ve received no communication at all, you should call or email the admission’s office. It sounds like they did not receive your app.
