i feel like at this point all the stress and emotional damage they are causing is worth at least admittance and full ride
I’ve already set other options into motion. They want stellar, nontraditional students? This is exactly the best way to give them the middle finger. Their loss.
i get that maybe they have had more applicants than normal, my biggest problem is they say on their website late may/earyl june, its mid june and they have made no attempt to contact those of us still waiting to apologize and say they are working on it
Today my portal has the following message:

I’m still waiting too. My friend was admitted last week. I need to know about my admittance soon too because I have other schools waiting for me to commit or not. Why is this happening???!
honestly? its probably because i applied. i have the worst luck
I am officially at the fifth stage of grief.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCbler-Ross_model
Acceptance — “It’s going to be okay.”; “I can’t fight it, I may as well prepare for it.”
In this last stage, individuals embrace mortality or inevitable future, or that of a loved one, or other tragic event. People dying may precede the survivors in this state, which typically comes with a calm, retrospective view for the individual, and a stable condition of emotions.
Positive or negative, it will come eventually. Maybe.
@AJCoastie … probably not
@revmatching do you still have your checklist?
@transferfor2015 yup, it all looks the same still… I’m about ready to ask for my application fee back. I’m working on getting into MIIS for the fall at this point. I have serious questions about how good of a school GW is at this point.
i thought it was none refundable. although i do agree their handling of this has been abysmal
still no response
This is honestly the worst thing ever my boyfriend was accepted yesterday into the Elliot school of international affairs and I’m still waiting for the school of arts and sciences :’(
My orientation for Virginia Tech is in a few days and I really don’t feel like driving 6 hours for a school I MIGHT go to…sslk;dfjsdlkfj
I called and explained my situation (lease expiration and transitioning out of the military aka do I commit to a new lease or not) to an admissions director. She said the applications were in a queue and nothing could be done to move a person in the queue or flag it for an early read.
I asked her when she expected this process would be finished. She had no idea, but hopefully they will be done this week. I’ve been fed that line twice before in previous weeks, so I doubt that’s the case.
GWU needs to streamline their admissions process, bring more people in to the fold for the admissions season, or buckle down and work until they’ve completed the process. At my job, if I’m two weeks behind on a deadline I get a royal ass chewing. I’ve called at 5:05PM before and their office was closed. From the applicants perspective, overtime doesn’t appear to be a part of the culture in the admissions office.
I understand that they were not prepared for the “extra interest” but that comes with attempting to get your university in to the national spotlight as opposed to being a regionally known university. They should have expected that as their university receives more accolades, more students would want to apply. They have been anything but transparent in the admissions process and the delays that we’ve encountered. We shouldn’t have to reach out to them for an update-- a polite email to all remaining applicants would suffice “We are sorry this is taking longer than expected. Please bear with us while we finish out the remainder of the applications.”
I could be blowing this out of proportion and the people commenting on this forum are the last 5 or so applications left, but I don’t feel this is the case. If accepted, I hope this isn’t foreshadowing of how the rest of the GWU administration handles a difficult workload.
I have still not heard, had to pay a deposit to hold my seat, and to pay for orientation at my back up school, I will be calling at some point tomorrow to convey my displeasure with how they are handling this, I do not care if they had more than they expected, they should have gone into overtime, i have family members in college admissions at different schools who have all laughed at how pathetic gw is treating us. they have all said that when they get more than expected they go into overtime to meet their self imposed deadline.
well i called… the last wave will be released at 5 pm… tonight or so they say… good luck to my fellow left behinds
I called yesterday and they told me “they have no idea when” final decisions would be made. I got really upset at that. Whoever was managing the phone was not in position to take these calls. She was absolutely useless. I hope they’re released tonight. I’m at wits end. I cannot deal with this anymore. Good luck to everyone!
Just checked. I got in at the Elliot School.
Congrats, @revmatching !!!
