D2 submitted her application on October 1st for all her CSU schools and has received an acknowledgement and instructions for checking her application status from everyone but CSU Northridge. Has anyone received an e-mail acknowledgement from Northridge yet? I’m wondering if it’s just my daughter or is this true for everyone who applied several weeks ago.
She is a definite “confirmed” on the CSU Mentor page but that showed up immediately as soon as she sent the application. The application fee has been processed as well.
She would just like to know what her “to do’s” are at this point. They said “three weeks” but we are well past that now.
@chibbychan we also sent an e-mail off to the admissions dept. a few days ago to inquire about this and haven’t heard back yet. I’m sure everyone will be notified by the end of the application period but this is a bit unnerving . . .
Just to clarify because I went through all the e-mails that D2 forwarded to me . . . turns out that CSUN actually DID send an initial “acknowledgement e-mail” on Oct. 1st. Here’s what it said regarding accessing the student portal:
“After you submit your application, it takes approximately three weeks for you to be able to access our student system for information. You will receive a letter from the university informing you about your myNorthridge student web portal account and your Cal State Northridge Gmail account. The portal and your Gmail account are the primary means through which we will communicate with you. Activate both accounts upon receipt of the letter, and continue to logon regularly so you can stay current with crucial information and deadlines.”
So they didn’t send any email at all? I believe the letter was sent to my home address which is different from the one at my current university and I can’t remember where it was kept. I made the mistake of thinking just like the other CSUs that I would get a corresponding email. What should I do?
You will need that letter to activate your portal.
Contact the admissions office so that you can get a duplicate letter sent to your new address. I know that FTF decisions are due in Feb. - not sure about transfers.
Congrats to your daughter @Ballerina016. Did her portal update and/or did she get an e-mail? My D2’s portal still says she needs to send her mid-year transcript (which was sent a few weeks ago).
@Ballerina016 Congrats to your daughter! Did she apply as a ftf or a transfer and is she local area? I’m curious because I applied to CS as a out of area transfer and I’m trying to get an idea of where admissions is at.

To see if your child has a hold due to being Tier 2 or because of an impacted major, after signing into the portal, click the Home tab at the top of the page. Down on the right hand side you will see a Solar Center button with a picture of sun. Select that and you will find info on holds.
@Ballerina016 Yeah it does thanks! @Learnum Yeah I’ve already checked that and I am tier 2. From what I’ve gathered it seems they are working through tier 1 applicants right now.
@Learnum thanks for providing that information on how to access the Student Center. I just checked and my D2 doesn’t have any holds or “to do’s”. She’s also OOS so I’m wondering if they have a different notification time schedule than the CA residents. Hopefully a decision soon.
