Fall 2016 Applied/Accepted Thread

is anyone applying for the honors program? I got in at the beginning of february but i barely heard about the program until a few days ago.

@wombatt11 did your son get the email that said he was still being considered and would hear by March 31? My son has a 3.5 , 1850, 30 ACT and that was the email he got. Still waiting as well, but at least he will know by Thursday.

@sunsmom yes, he got that same email. But since wait lists already went out, it seems like all that would be left would be rejections.

@wombat11 Rejections have also gone out, so it doesn’t really make sense. I’m assuming it will be a wait list, but you never know. Long beach had the most applications, but many students who applied have no intention of going , they just want acceptances to multiple colleges. My son ants to weigh his options.

@sunsmom Good luck to your son. I’m really hoping my son makes it in because his other acceptances aren’t ideal. He wants to do film. Since he is not a 4.0+ student, he didn’t make it in to the UCs (but he didn’t apply to Riverside or Merced and I think not applying to Riverside was a mistake). I find it frustrating that a B+/A- student has limited options. But on the other hand, he limited himself by only wanting to be in the LA area.

accepted yesterday for pre-computer science major

so I don’t think everyone who got their decisions yesterday were rejections

@#1bballengineer congratulations! Did you get the same email that said you were still be considered? What were your stats?

@wombat11 Thanks, same to your son. My son has two other choices, but he wants to weigh every option. I agree that it’s really sad that a 3.5 isn’t good enough. When my daughter applied four years ago, it was much easier. My son also only wants schools that aren’t any further than Long Beach. My son didn’t even apply for UC schools. However, I believe wherever they end up is where they are suppose to be.

Recently admitted to pre-electrical engineering. 4.3 CSU GPA.

Still waiting as well, even though we have already decided on UCR
My daughter also got into UC Santa Barbara, so it is kind of funny that she got into eighth top public university in the country, and we are still waiting on Long Beach???
She also got into Fullerton and Pomona, but I am so glad we decided to apply to some UC’s
Good luck to you all, curious to see what the outcome is, I don’t believe any freshman have been put on the waitlist, just either got in or were rejected.

honestly my stats were not that high 3.5 csu gpa and 1750 SAT. they did add me to the beach pathways program. Why they did I don’t know? I believe if they add you to beach pathways it’s almost given you will be accepted.

I actually didn’t get the email saying I would be considered. the last email I received from them was 3 weeks ago when u turned in the beach pathways application. that’s when they told me they would be sending decisions up to April 1st

Aren’t final decisions supposed to be out today?? This is painful.

Just got the decision: waitlisted. Ugh. (stats GPA 3.5 SAT 1810). Does anyone know the chances of getting in off the waitlist?

My son got admitted today for environmental science/policy with a 3.7 CSU GPA, 30 ACT 1850 SAT. Now he needs to decide where he wants to go. He didn’t get an email; we had to go to the portal.

@sunsmom - congrats to your son. We found out by the portal too. Now we’re waiting for the “waitlist offer letter.” I can’t believe this is going to drag on longer for us. I guess I should be glad he wasn’t denied. Does anyone have any info on their waitlists? Previous experience on how long it took to hear back and whether or not there was dorm space left?

Waitlisted, GPA: 3.4 SAT: 2020
I plan on going to UCSB so I didn’t really care. Is there a way to take yourself off the waitlist though because I don’t want to take a spot from someone who actually wants to go.

My D was waitlisted as well, I’m glad they actually admitted some people today, I can’t believe they made people wait 2 months, to put them on the waitlist, for future applicants she had a EI of 4009 liberal arts she got into Pomona, Fullerton, Santa Barbara, and Riverside
I was sure she was going to get into Long Beach and I was sure she was not going to get into Santa Barbara, , Guess you never know!
Good luck to all and I’m sure everyone will end up where they are supposed to be!

@wombat11 Honestly most kids don’t get in off the waitlist. I would accept at another school and then if something happens great, but if not then he will be happy where he lands. We waited for this decision because Long Beach was my son’s first choice and I wanted him to make the best decision for him. We will still revisit his top two schools next week before he accepts. Not an easy time for kids, but I honestly think I was more stressed than my son! LOL
