@chipperine @nbph216 7-10 business days for materials to be processed… don’t worry guys.

How can you check if your application is complete? Can you do it online or do you have to call the admissions office?

Hey guys!
So I sent in my application in the last week of January and I just wanted to add my two cents to this thread. I applied as a high school senior last year and was accepted, but I went to USC in LA. I’m not the biggest fan of it and I realized that I would love Michigan if I transfer. I’m considered a former foster youth, I’m a first generation college student, and I identify as a white (first generation child of Polish immigrants) female. My first college semester wasn’t that great, but that’s because of my insane course load, my mom being extremely ill back home which took up a ton of my time, and adjusting to college in general. Here are some stats:

HS
GPA: 3.90 (UW) 4.19 (W)
3 varsity sports, e-board for 3 clubs, in another 5 clubs, crew head for theater, and volunteered over 200 hours.
I took 6 AP courses and many honors courses.
AP scores sent: US history- 4, Bio- 4, Language- 4

College
GPA: 3.14
18 credits (chemistry, biology, writing, medical prep course, French), 5 clubs (2 volunteering), and 1 letter of rec from a professor I visited relatively often.
19 credits for second semester
Neuroscience major (USC you have to identify with a major to have a course plan)

Approximately 28-36 potential transfer credits
If you have any thoughts on my chances please let me know because I’m really worried and I really want to get in!

@packardsy I applied to LSA. I don’t think they evaluate your application until it’s complete and all materials have been received, so if your transcript didn’t arrive until 1/30 then I’d say you’ll probably heard back 3-4 weeks from that. So late February probably?

@cbs192 I think your chances to get in should be pretty good. I heard that most people who have been accepted within the past year usually get re-accepted. That’s what happened with me, because I also was accepted as a senior but decided to go to another university. so you shouldn’t have too much to worry about!

Curse the “Millennial mindset” of wanting everything to be instant. This wait is going to be worth it but each day seems longer and longer hahaahahahah

Is anybody OOS worried about tuition? I did the NPC and it projected me paying roughly 40k/year, and although umich is my dream school, I can’t afford that :frowning:

Do they send you an email when your app is complete or is it just when you have no materials remaining to send them?

I’m an instate CC student applying as a rising sophomore. I have some terrible high school grades but my essays touch on that.
-HS GPA 2.8
-ACT 31
-CC GPA 4.0
-3 amazing letters of recommendations
-Phi thetta kappa
my main extra curricular was volunteer work for a presidential campaign running voter registration drives, calling voters and canvassing.

I’ve met with admissions there on a couple of occasions and they told me looking at my community college GPA there was no way I wouldn’t get in but they hadn’t seen my high school gpa so we’ll see. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that I get denied and they want me to keep going to my community college for another semester to make sure I can keep up my grades but I think I made a really great argument for why I need to transfer in during the fall so who knows.

My only fear now is that I get accepted and cannot afford it. When I did the calculator I was told I would essentially be able to go to Michigan for free. I have a fafsa EFC of 0 but I keep getting this fear that I messed up on that css profile because it didn’t give me a fee waive even though my family is incredibly poor.

I just received my rejection letter this morning.

I am an applicant from California CC
my stats:

Credits completed: 62 units of transferable units to UC, however only 29 of them are transferable to umich( which is why I am rejected as they prefer junior standing).
GPA:4.0
Major: Economics

ECs: tutoring econ and accounting, leadership at my school’s student ambassador, member of a cultural awareness clubs, and bunch of ecs from high school.

Why I think I am rejected:

  1. I asked my counselor and she said that I don’t have junior standing according to them, which only 29 units out of 62 UC transferable units is transferable there. So they consider more of my high school performance and SAT score – both of which aren’t impressive. This makes sense since they sent me decision only 2 weeks after I submit the application. I am not even sure if they look at my other parts of the application.

Anyways, Goodluck to the rest of you !

@resonanx when did u apply?

@nbph216 Application marked complete January 29th

@resonanx first of all, i am sorry. You will find a good college!

I was just wondering how it looks like when the application is marked as completed. Do i get an email that it is completed? Or the wolverine site shows “completed” ?

Thank u!

@jackpotgirl777 I called the undergraduate admissions number and asked if my application was complete because I couldn’t find it on wolverine access. I’d ask for the date it was completed too that’ll give you a ballpark idea of how long you’ll have to wait, since people said that they’re heading back about 2-3 weeks after their application was noted as completed! Hope that helps

I feel like this Michigan transfer thread has been livelier in years past. Is it just less people using College Confidential? Or does it say something bigger about the number of transfer applicants? Was kinda wondering about this.

I’m. so. nervous. Oh my god guys lets all get Ben & Jerrys and cry over our dreams together while we wait omg.

@resonanx Today, I talked to admission through online chat, she said my application appears to be complete. However, she did not say it is officially completed, and she said she did not know when it will be officially completed. She told me just keep my eyes on Wolverine. So, I will just wait while writing bunch of English essays  Thank you for your answer!!

I will have 51 transferable units when I get in the university, but I am not so sure if I could get it or not since it is not quite junior required units. (Junior: 56units~)

Cheers!

@resonanx sorry to hear that, thats a shame judging your good academic performance. Did you receive an actual letter, or an email notification of your decision? Or did you just check wolverine access?

Also, general question, does anyone know if you can dispute credit equivalencies past the online credit converter, or is that the done deal? Because I have 53/67 transferable credits
