OFFICIAL FALL 2016 UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN TRANSFER THREAD.

Any other transfer applicants want to discuss their process??

I’m a freshman at MSU in Lyman Briggs and I want to transfer to UofM LSA
HS GPA: 3.84
College GPA: N/A yet
ACT: 31

Umich is my dream school and I hope I can get in for my sophomore year!

Applying as a rising sophomore for fall 2016

I am a Freshman at The Ohio State University (Main Campus) and want to trasnfer to UofM LSA
HS GPA: 3.60
College GPA: NA yet (expected 3.52-3.6)
ACT: 33

Any idea as to how good my changes to transfer there as a sophomore look

I am an international student and a rising Junior from Santa Barbara City College
H.S. GPA: around 3.4-3.5ish
Major: Economics
College GPA: 4.0 (48 units completed)
SAT: 1720 (I know, this is pretty low but I called the admission office and retaking the SAT now is pretty much useless since they will not count it.)
ECs: Economics and Accounting tutor in my CC, leadership role in Student Ambassador, member of cultural awareness clubs, and lots of other ECs and volunteering during high school, but these are pretty much it in college.

Do y’all know if UofM gives good OOS transfer aid?

I go to an in state community college and I’m applying as a sophomore. My only problem is my horrible high school gpa but I am hoping that with the rest of my application and a good essay they can look passed that.
ACT: 31
HS GPA: 2.9
College GPA: 4.0
major: Economics or PPE
I’ll have just a bit over 40 credits by the time I’m transferring. My high school gpa is really bad but its also incredibly upward slopping and I think I can slightly explain it due to having both my parents unemployed at the time which forced me to work add onto the fact that I was actually diagnosed with severe ADHD. After being diagnosed with ADHD and getting treatment I’ve been doing incredible in school.

My hope is that they can look at my ACT and college GPA and see how well I’m doing now and also factor in my family situation and ADHD to look passed my high school GPA

Currently finishing up (or about to start) the UM supplemental writing on common app. As one applying to a few schools for transfer, I have to say, UM has a more difficult writing supplement than I expected!

Anyways, my stats

Applying: LSA, junior admission
Programs of interest: political science, PITE, sociology

High school: public, regretful performance
GPA: 2.3
SAT: 1570
ECs:
-Varsity soccer + club soccer
That’s about all I’m reporting, figure schools are more concerned with college ECs. Also, I know umich requires sat submission if taken in high school, anyone know what may happen if you simply… don’t submit your score(s)?

College: Community College
50 credits
GPA: 3.85
Projected mid-term GPA: 4.0
Phi Theta Kappa
3 excellent letters of rec, 2 instructors 1 advisor
ECs:
-Supervisor at nothing-special job 28hrs/wk
-Intern at partisan political committee 10hrs/wk
-Intern/editor’s assitant at small online newspaper 15hrs/wk
-Summer/winter Intern at an environmental lobby 40hrs/wk
-Volunteer at local animal shelter 2hrs/week
-Member of college’s environmental/sustainability club
-other work history: full-time work in retail management position freshman year, one other job during college
Other:
-Competitive, regional political science award recipient
-URM
-Confident with my common app statement

I’m quite confident with my chances, but I know LSA is uber competitive so I probably shouldn’t be.

Freshman at Binghamton University 3.93 GPA so far, updated as a sophomore transfer.

At time of my first application I had a 4.0 in HS and I graduated 15th in my class… buuuut my senior grades tanked a bit (death in family, wasn’t in school for equivalent of 2 months). 2150 SAT, 32 ACT, IB diploma and AP Scholar certificate, the works.

My original application (sent for 2015) was enough to get me on the waitlist (boo) and an encouraging letter from Sanders which besides complimenting my academic record at the time also commended my “passion” and “strong interest” in the university. So at least they know I’ll go if they accept me?

I’m mainly worried because a) I didn’t do so hot in part of senior year, esp in participation-heavy courses and I couldn’t explain this on my record, and b) they waitlisted then punted me before–what’s a good college GPA going to do to help, when I don’t get to also update on my current ECs, volunteering, and get professor recs?

worywart2 Why won’t you be able to send an update on your EC, etc?

as an update to my post above with my stats. While I have yet to hear back from Michigan, I shouldn’t because the application deadline literally just passed, I’ve meet with multiple admissions reps there and one of them straight up told me there is no way I couldn’t get accepted in the fall. Now obviously he hasn’t looked into my full application or anything but from what I gathered, having a 4.0 at your current college should secure you a spot in the fall

Hi, I’m a cc transfer, applied for 2016 fall. Now waiting for decision… has anybody heard back yet?

Thanks!

I was admitted in the winter and had initially paid to start in the winter before being in a car accident, so I rescinded my acceptance and reapplied for the fall since I didn’t want to wait a full year to start at Michigan. Any thoughts on when we will hear back?

Hello all, I was admitted to Umich, LSA. I Will enter as sophomore. Here is my statistics.
SAT: 2080 (CR650)
Ielts :7.5
College GPA:4.0
EC: career related internship, clubs.

I think that college GPA is the most important while I am not so good in other aspects. I have received final decision on 17, March. Good luck everyone and Go blue!

I think we suppose to hear the decision notice on April 15.

I am cc and 4 year college transfer student from Maryland.
