@pugzandhugz Ah ok, I don’t know why but SDSU isn’t listed when I select UCLA as the institution I’d be transferring to. I tried it the other way around too
I hope everyone gets in! It’s so difficult to transfer, so if you get in you are very fortunate.
Fullerton College here, 28% admitted 3.5 - 25% and 3.86 -75% GPA
Not bad
Diablo Valley College. I’m dying my school would be one of the top four applicant pools (by amount of applicants). Also, our 25, 75 is 3.69 and 4.00.
@topchoiceschool USC can be generous with their aid, however I have a tricky financial situation in which the financial aid office did not acknowledge.
My reasons would be: Research. Unless you are studying Psychology or a major within STEM trying to find research opportunities at CSUs can drive you crazy. Attending law school and becoming a law professor would be my ideal, but pursuing a PhD is still a backup plan for me so I need to be in an environment that can provide those opportunities.
However,
There is nothing wrong with prestige being a bonus for you. We shouldn’t be ruled by prestige and flashy names, but the idea that only shallow people care about association is ridiculous. If you dreamed about being an ivy league graduate, then strive to be an ivy league graduate. If the fact that Berkeley is Berkeley or UCLA is UCLA is one of the reasons why you want to study at those institutions, then that is nothing to feel bad about. If one of the reasons why you want to get into a program is because it is the highest ranked program in the nation, so what? Don’t spend your life chasing after big names. But there is nothing wrong with wanting to be accepted or attend a highly regarded academic institution because you want to prove to yourself stand on your own and succeed in these environments.
Yes, I’m going to strive for a 4.0 after I transfer because of law school. But, yes, I also want my degree to say Summa Cum Laude. I love education and I have always striven to reach the highest heights that I possibly can. There are those who see all academic ambition as pretentious and pointless, but there is nothing wrong with wanting an award, a degree, an acceptance, a title, etc, simply because you wanted to prove to yourself that you could do it.
If you want to attend UCLA, you have to means to, and you want to seize every opportunity that is thrown your way, then go to LA? Screw the hipster idea that you must be content with where you are at any point in life simply because it is ‘perfectly fine’. The very fact that you are so comfortable at SDSU means that transferring would shift things up and challenge you. If we don’t take risks and venture out into the world now, then when else will we do it?
Just out of curiosity, how far back did you all go regarding your activities and awards? What kind of Volunteer and Community Service were you able to accomplish?
I felt that it was difficult to adequately explain the activities with the limited amount of space that they provided on the application. Summing up some of my activities in just a few sentences proved to be troublesome and I am hoping that they were still able to get the “big picture” when reviewing my application.
If decisions were released on the 18th in 2014 and 17th in 2015, wouldn’t they be released on the 15th this year?
Maybe thats just wishful thinking… also the 15th would make it a “mid April” release date instead of a “late April” date…HMPH! :-/
Probably the second to last Friday of the month…
Likely the 22nd. UCLA traditionally releases 1 week before Berkeley, and Berkeley’s date is on the 29th.
Any communications majors out here? I heard communications major is the hardest major to transfer to UCLA. Im seriously freaking out, and losing ma patience to know the decision
No Biz/Econ is the hardest!
I’m the same major as u. Right now, i just got ucsb and ucsc. Hope I can get ucsd or ucla
Will we receive an email, or should we just be checking the portal?
I was going through my emails from when I applied last year. I got an email on the day they released decisions at 6pm. The email just said that the decisions were out.
There’s a slight chance that the decisions will be released this Friday. But the past trends show that it was always the second to last Friday of April (which is the 22nd for 2016, unfortunately).
Decisions should be available around 5:20 PST.
@empad7 i feel like if it’s typically always been 1 week before berkeley, then it has to be the 22nd since their release date is for sure on the 29th #-o
@Htsatryan At this point of waiting, I kindda regreat choosing that major lol. If I don’t get in, I’m screwed.
still have hopes it will be on the 18th [-O<
Better to expect it later and be pleasantly surprised by anything earlier.
