Fall 2016 UPenn Transfer Thread

Guys. I am a high school senior. I did terrible during my time in high school but I tried to make it up by taking the most challenging classes possible. (8 IB/AP courses my senior year and 7 my junior). I want to try my best to transfer to Wharton. Please give me whatever tips you guys have since you have been through it all. To those rejected, I feel you. Wharton is my dream school and I was rejected as an ED applicant. I was not surprised though but it gave me an incentive to work harder for a transfer.

@nighthawk4 @gymasticsfan321 @liveyourlife26 @FutureCancerDoc7 To everyone who is commenting on what I posted earlier. My views on admission is not racist or faulted. I am actually not white but that shouldn’t matter. Everyone who is commenting saying that I am hurt and offended is incorrect. Actually it really shouldn’t get to you. If you do not believe in what I am saying just ignore it. These are my views. We live in the United States where people have the right to say things that they wish to say. We aren’t in elementary school, so stop acting like a child.

Yes, there are students who have been accepted who are black, white, and hispanic of all classes. I applaud them for their hardwork and acceptance.

I think some of you have forgotten that the Affirmative Action still exists. For example the undergraduate student ethnicity of UCLA is 33.5% asian. The other ethnicities are less than 30% at ucla. I don’t agree with the Affirmative Action. It seems like everyone here needs to check out the law and keep their political views out of this before making statements about generalizations.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted to University of Penn.

@jmalik981 Same!!! I also didn’t try in high school until the last two years! I’m also Class of 2020 and planning to transfer. I’m attending Babson in the fall, but Wharton is my dream school!

Does anyone know the transfer rate for Wharton this year or anyone got accepted as a transfer?

@mateenjan1 The UCs are race blind in their admissions, I fail to see how that adds to your argument. Asians are usually the one who complain about getting the short end of the stick when it comes to Affirmative Action, more so than white students…

And this what you posted:

“Rejected. I’m not surpised because Ivy’s leagues only accept people from minorities and super rich kids. Students who are white, male or female, and in a middle class to upper class family usually never get accepted. So not a surprise and it shouldn’t surprise any one on this discussion post. Trying to stay optimistic but it’s the truth.”

I don’t know why you’re the one calling the others childish after using words like "never’ and “only”. Your view (or the “truth” as you call it) is just plain wrong. Yes, you’re allowed to have wrong views, but others are also allowed to comment on them. You should working on crafting an articulate, fact-based argument before complaining about being rejected to an Ivy League school that admits about 1 in 10 people.

Hey Guys, I am a current undergraduate at UC Irvine. I am studying Business Admin here. I applied for a transfer to Babson College and got accepted. But the only issue is at UC Irvine, I was granted a lot of credits from my high school and a lot of basic requirements were waived off. But here in Babson they are not accepting my high school credits and not even full credits of UC Irvine’s freshman year as UC Irvine is a quarter system. If I go to Babson, I will approximately start from first year. While my UC Irvine degree with the aid of credits is only 3 years in total, and I am already done with one.
I really love entrepreneurship, but please suggest is it worth spending 4 more years (total 5 including the one at UCI) and $280K in tution to go to Babson, or to just complete my BA here in UCI as Business Admin. I plan to open up my own business and tha’s why Babson was my dream school. But please tell is it worth doing this much?
My tution at Babson is 70K per year while 50K per year in UC Irvine as I’m out of state.

Babson:
4 more years (graduate in 2020)
pay 280K more (total 330K including UC Irvine’s one year tution)

UC Irvine
2 more years (graduate in 2018)
pay 100K more (total 150K: 3 years tution)

Please guide me is Babson really worth it?

@mynameistransfer I’d stay at UC Irvine.

My brother goes to Babson and it is a really greAt school. I would finish at UC Irvine and applied for Their Master program.

I got accepted back in march and they are still reviewing my credits and such does anyone else still have this problem its been two months.

Hey @YonceKnowles I was just wondering if you could answer some questions that I have about Penn transfer… CC isn’t great for me though, could you personally email me @ dilawarabdullah@gmail.com

Hi @YonceKnowles Would you mind getting me in contact with any biomedical engineers that you know?? I really want to transfer to UPenn and I would love your help!

Hey, @YonceKnowles . I am also a student at OSU looking to transfer to UPENN. Any chance I can ask you a couple questions?

hi, @YonceKnowles. Could I also ask a couple questions about the transfer process to UPenn as an IR major?

@dkpark9095 @whatiscollege112233 sure, please PM me! :slight_smile:

Could you please tell me your stats! I find out next week but I just want some ide aid I will get accepted as a transfer to Wharton ://

@kidofcollege I was accepted as a transfer to the College, not Wharton, but the transfers I knew who had gotten into Wharton had 35 ACTs and 4.0 GPAs

Thanks that’s really helpful. I have a 3.94 GPA for college but my SAT fell short - 2070. I also have a strong essay that is very frank and well written and I have 2 strong teacher reccomendations (as I know them very well). I know it’s a long shot getting in but do you know anyone with around how I did?
