I applied on 10/1/2017 to Chico, Sac, Sonoma, and Cal Poly. I received an email from Sonoma a few days ago stating that they received my application and will be sending it to the department for review. Four months later!! My friend, who applied a few weeks after me, already heard from Chico. I’m really bummed that I haven’t been accepted anywhere, especially Chico. Does anyone know the process for applications? I was told that the date of applying doesn’t really matter. I’m trying to stay positive, but it’s hard.
Do all of those schools have rolling admissions? Have you checked your portal to see that they have all the materials? If they do have rolling admissions, I would email admissions, state that you submitted on 10/1, and ask when you might hear about a decision. That’s not unreasonable.
Chico apparently does not. But, I will email them today and ask about it. Thanks!
@maddog00 what is the major you chose for Chico? Have you checked your portal for Chico? My daughter heard back pretty quick but her friend who chose nursing as a major hasn’t heard anything yet and she applied 6 weeks earlier…
@momof4CAkids Kinesiology. I check my portal on a regular basis. I have friends that got accepted last year that
didn’t hear from Chico until the end of February, early March. What is your daughter’s major?
@maddog00 I have one at Chico now and major is liberal arts (I believe that’s the official name of the major) and the daughter that applied in November is for Criminal Justice… here is a link with the schools and impacted majors… looks like Chico isn’t impacted for Kinesiology… I don’t know why they take a little longer to get some of acceptances out?

@momof4CAkids Thanks for the information. I don’t get the whole application process, but I’m sure it’s rigorous.
I’m trying to stay positive.
@maddog00 it is a hard process to understand … most of my kids friends didn’t even know to set up portals… I had to explain to them to read the emails the schools sent and set them up… this is my 3rd round of this process … it’s getting easier but the schools have different requirements as well!
Try and stay positive … it’s out of your hands right now so can’t stress too much over it (I do make my kids do a plan B and Plan C so they can see they do have choices) and hopefully you’ll get some acceptances soon! (and btw…on a positive note… my first two didn’t get into their #1 school of choice… and BOTH love love love where they ended up!)
@maddog00: As @momof4CAkids stated above that the CSU decisions are out of your hands at this point. Each CSU can set their own decision timelines so you cannnot compare campuses. CSU admissions is based on your eligibility index and major. Applicants that high EI’s for their specific major will usually hear first, along with local vs. non-local applicants. The CSU decisions usually come out in waves and this will continue through March. Just be patient (I know difficult) and as long as you applied widely and have a solid safety school, you should be fine.
I also will note that neither of my 2 son’s got into their top choice schools and are doing fine regardless.
Best of luck.
Thank you @Gumbymom and @momof4CAkids. :). Most of my friends, that have applied to CSU, have not heard anything. I know whatever happens, is meant to be.
