@SBMamaBear I am feeling the same way as you. All of the other schools have managed to send out their notifications so there is really zero excuse for their slowness in this. If they are this bad at acceptances I’m not sure I want my kid going there. We haven’t even toured it as he wanted to wait to see if he got in first so I’m starting to really think that SDSU will be the school for us. Really disappointed in how this whole process has gone this year with most of the schools as it wasnt nearly this long and drawn out as it was this year 3 yrs ago when my daughter applied. Cal State dropped the ball royally with the new application process but many of the other ones have sent admissions already. It is only a calculation at this point so not sure what the hold up is. Not to mention that many transfers and international students have been notified. There is no excuse if you ask me. The kids get a couple of months to fill this stuff out and they have had 4 months to review and still are not done? It’s not like they are reading 4 essays like the UC schools are. The excuse of too many applications doesn’t fly either since they got extra money from everyone that submitted. It is just very poorly executed! Sounds like they are playing the game of let’s see who SIR’s and who declines before we add more students in.
@Bean981 So you think many acceptances have already gone out? I think it’s probably best that I accept and pay the deposit at Fullerton then. I am very disappointed too since all other decisions have been released. I thought that April 1st was the general deadline for all schools to notify students. It certainly does create a dilemma for many applicants. I too thought it was simply just a calculation (no essays, EC’s considered). Do you know how many applications they received? I wonder if it’s a case of “record # of applications.” But as you said, they also received more $, so why the hold up for this reason. I am just beyond frustrated, so I’m really trying to focus on my son’s other choices (although he’s narrowed it down to Fullerton & CPP). SDSU is such a good option. I’m very happy for you that your son was accepted there. It sounds like it’s closer to home also. Back to waiting…
@SBMamaBear I will probably give it a couple more weeks and then commit as we have to send records by May 1st to SDSU thus need that lead time so once I start paying for stuff I honestly do not want to waste money. I think they still have a lot more to go but that is just a guess at this point. They may be surprised at the low turnout but maybe that is their goal. Not really sure. Kind of sad when such a good school is so poorly mismanaged from an admissions standpoint.
Interesting fact that they admit almost the same amount of transfer students as they do Freshman. 55% are freshmen and 45% transfers. Who knows. SDSU for example is more like 20% transfer and 80% freshman. I maybe off a little in the math but it is a huge difference between the schools so maybe that has something to do with them taking longer?
This Friday is the Campus Preview Day for international students at CPP. I asked their Outreach and Recruitment Department if there is any type of Open House for admitted students, but there isn’t. They did say that anyone could go to Friday’s event, but it’s really just for international students. Does that mean all international applications have been processed? I guess the school wants the international tuition, so California applicants are lower on the totem pole. That might not be true, but that’s what it seems like!
The Cal States are so strapped for resources, I’m sure they just can’t risk over enrolling in these great, “hands on” programs. I’m gently nudging my son to release his CS acceptances at CPP and Fullerton now that UC results are in. I’m sure there are many families like ours who are feeling somewhat shell shocked after the emotional roller coaster of waiting for these decisions for so many months. He has promised to take one last look at CPP and a 1st look at CSUF this week over spring break. It’s like he’s feeling a sense of loss over the path not taken. Either that or he’s having 2nd thoughts about his ability to succeed at a UC. I sure thought the end of high school was supposed to be less stressful than this.
So I just called them… I wanted to hear what they had to say myself and they told me that decisions should be coming out by mid April. I also asked if it was acceptances as well as denials or if it was just waitlists and denials and they said that it is both acceptances and denials. I also asked why exactly there was such a delay and she said that they were a director down so they only had one person working on admissions at the moment. I some of that helped.
I hope the person you talked to knows more about what he/she is talking about than the person I talked to. I like mid-April better than the END of April (which is what I was told)! ONE person working on admissions? Really? Does anyone else think this is outrageously ridiculous? I really feel for all these kids still waiting. I cannot imagine how difficult it is for all of you.
Has anyone who was invited to apply to the Kellogg college denied to CPP? getting worried.

Major: Mechanical Engineering

GPA 3.86

Good luck all! Hang in there. maybe we should start a phone campaign calling their admissions on a daily basis.
@Bean981 I would be willing to phone in on a daily basis. Anyone else?
I would think that calling every day would be counter productive. The more time they spend on the phone, the less time they have to work on the applications.
Those answering the phones in the Admissions Office are student employees and are not involved in processing applications. This is probably why those of us calling are getting different answers each time. They are simply telling callers what they are told to say… “tell people the end of April… middle of April… another couple of weeks,” etc. I agree, however that it probably would not result in faster processing of applications… but it would make some people feel better!
Note, this message is from the portal : "Decision Pending - Your application is currently under review and pending an admission decision based on self-reported information and/or documents received. You may expect an admission decision no later than the end of May if you have applied for the Fall or early December if you have applied for a Winter term.
Should an offer of admission be extended on or after May 1st, students will be allotted time to accept their offer of admission."
…so technically, they can notify you even after May 1st
They can accept after May 1st but once the $400 deposit is made to another school we are done! Money doesn’t grow on trees and personally if they cant get their act together to get through applications then I would really hate to see what they are like once we are there. So I’ll give them to mid April then we are out of this rat race!
@Bean981 …understand and agree, this has been a stressful/emotional rollercoaster
I think they might have some better luck if they offered a decline admission offer button like some other CSUs. My son is planning to attend a different CSU but we have nothing but an accept admission button.
My son’s portal shows:
Fall Semester 2018

Looks like @H3lloM3ow is farther along in the process. If anyone gets updated or admitted, please post so we know when there’s some action… thanks!
