Anyone here ever been to one of these? How diverse are they usually? Like what percentage of African-Americans/Hispanics are usually present?

Added specific information to Carleton and a new entry on Kenyon.

The Columbia Engineering Experience program does not seem to have a webpage, but I recieved an email and mail invitation. I’m not sure if it is an invitation only event.

Anyone know anything about Pomona Fall Weekend??

^ Can you confirm that Pomona has a Fall Weekend in '09, or at all?

Has anyone received an invitation from Colby. I called admissions and was told they were being sent the end of August. I wonder if they went out. Can someone please post if they received any info.

Are all of these programs catered toward Seniors; or are any of them worth signing up as a junior?

Keilexandra, your’re amazing!

None of them are for Juniors, of course.

You’ve got another year!

^ Yes, ALL of these programs are targeted strictly at seniors.

^^^I would recommend signing up for information on college websites as a jr. Many times when you do so, you will be asked about ethnicity/race, so this is one way to get on their radar for later when they’re sending out invitations or notices for diversity weekends. Other ways are PSAT, Ventures Scholars, NHRP, Nat Achiev, etc.

Venture Scholars helped my son with some. One, I think it was Wheaton, we heard about and when he inquired, they said he wasn’t sent an invitation, so he wasn’t invited. It seemed it was for the “posse” program. He didn’t end up wanting to go there, but we learned some will accept you without an offical invite and some wont.

Ooh, I never saw this thread. Thanks for it. I’m going to Swat’s, but I didn’t know about Yale’s. I’ll try to check that out.
