So its time for us Freshman to sign up for classes (well almost, and we've technically already pre-registered for classes). Anyways, since there's still time to change our classes, do any of you Middlebury veterans have any advice for us? Professors to avoid? Classes that just take up too much time? Great professors we should try to have? I know we can only take four courses, but are there certain courses that would make our courseloads too hard? (Ex taking a lot of history courses or a lot of science courses)

Thanks!

Just try to keep it balanced–no more than two reading-intensive classes, preferably only one science class, etc. They bring you in well and nurture you with the seminar thing so you won’t have it too difficult.

Only take 4 classes.

Try to take classes tht you’ll enjoy. You’ll thank me later.

What are reading intensive classes? Literature and History? Do people ever take more than 4 classes?

Once you are a sophomore you can take 5 classes if you want, but I really wouldn’t recommend it unless you find yourself very bored with just 4.

Reading intensive classes are generally found in the Political Science, English, History, SoAn, Geography, and sometimes Economics departments.
