Fall semester starting date?

Not sure where to post this.. As an int'l student who will need to go back home during the summer and winter breaks, I need to know one specific thing. Do sophomores, juniors, etc also start their fall semester in September, like the freshmen?

I will be going away to a US college this fall (freshman).

Well, freshmen typically move in earlier than upperclassmen, but they all start classes at the same time. And if you’re living in the dorms, then you can move in whenever freshmen move in.

But the specific start date depends on your college. At my college, classes start in August.

But yeah, if your university starts classes in September for freshmen, then sophomores, juniors, and seniors also start classes in September.

Many colleges have an academic calendar online with all of these dates and some schools have them available for multiple years so you could plan ahead.

I’ve never heard of freshman starting classes on a different date than everyone else. If you really want to know I would contact your school directly.

There was one college I knew of that had their freshmen move in a month early for a Fall Term, where you took just one class (a month long) and acclimated to college life, the upperclassmen moved in later and then everyone started their real fall semester.

If you’re going to a big school I can guarantee you won’t have something like that, if you’re going to a small LAC I’d maybe see what your school does. Look on their website or call them.
