Falsely accused of cheating by a teacher who isn't my teacher??

Some background: My teacher (Mr. H) went on paternity leave earlier in the year so another math teacher (Ms. F) came and subbed for him. She ended up adding the entire class onto her Blackboard (online class resource where teachers put up flies and assignments etc). Most of the class is still on her BB since we cannot remove ourselves. Our AB Calc test was 6 multiple choice questions and 2 free response.

About me: I am a model student. I have been on the Honor Council since its founding, I have never cheated in my life, all my teachers trust me and know that I’m responsible and honest.

So basically I was on Ms. F’s BB and using it to check my homework since her BB is more organized than my own teachers. I decided to go take the test and I clicked on her link instead of my actual teachers link. I realized this when I was into the test at three minutes and immediately exited out of the test. In hindsight, I probably should have emailed both teachers but I didn’t think it was a big deal since I wasn’t in Ms. F’s class anyway, nor did I answer any of the questions. So then I go and do my actual test.

The next day, Ms. F comes into the classroom and says that I cheated on the test because I accessed her test and I had extra time to look at the questions because I was on the test for the entire 45 minutes we were allotted. When I explained that I was only on the test for three minutes to my actual teacher, he said he believed me and I probably just made an honest mistake. I then and go talk to Ms. F, who states that if she can’t see that I was only on there for three minutes, she would report me to the Honor Council, which I am on.

Does she even have a basis to accuse me of cheating? My own teacher believes that I didn’t cheat, but I know he doesn’t care enough to stand up for me since we do not have a close relationship. I’m really scared that my case will get sent to the HC and then the colleges I’ve been accepted too will drop my admission because I’ve been accused of cheating. I swear I was only on the test for around 2-3 minutes and was working on the first problem only before I realized I was on the wrong test. I’ve offered to take another test to my actual math teacher, but he really doesn’t care. How do I get this other math teacher stop accusing me of cheating when I’m not even her student?

I don’t think colleges would rescind just for being accused; and your guidance counselor would need to notify them (and I don’t know if even then they would rescind). I would strongly suggest talking to your actual teacher about what happened and try and get him to talk down Ms. F. Definitely also go to your guidance counselor with this and explain.

I would just go to your principle or counselor and talk to them. Let’s be honest, your other teachers would probably vouch for you too, since they know you better than your new math teacher. She probably just wants to best and doesn’t want someone taking the easy way out by cheating. She just doesn’t know you like other teachers.

If you weren’t meant to have access to the test, then there’s no way you should have been able to access it. Once your own teacher came back to school, the portal should have been closed.

And, as a teacher, I have a real problem with two teachers giving the same test. What’s to stop your friend from taking the test, copying down the questions and you taking the test an hour later, after you’ve had the opportunity to work out the answers?

I won’t give the same test to two different periods, much less leave it posted online.

I think perhaps you’re underestimating your own teacher. He has no proof that the other teacher is wrong, but I don’t need to have a “close relationship” with a particular kid to defend him against an accusation I believe is wrong.
