If you want to be taken seriously, dress classic/preppy if you are a guy. There really aren’t any other real options…there are so few styles, and the rest of them make you look juvenile. If you want to be a man, dress like one (though since you are probably in considerably better shape, you can make your own twists on your look).

NEO-PREP is in.

Basically mix your prep staples with modern trends in a modest manner. For example, the classic polo with jeans + boat shoes.

hm, i guess i’m just really not used to seeing any knee, what with living in the center of guido-ville & all. but, i must admit, that model guy looked great. as long as u have good knees like him, i approve ;)

Don’t wear Ed Hardy. Please.

To be honest, I think a guy in a lacoste polo looks pretty hot. That’s pretty much as preppy as you can get.

^ Yup guys can’t go wrong with nice [preferably dark washed] jeans and a crisp fitted polo, and i’m not talking about the ****ty hollister/abercrombie ones.

Lacoste lol. When our French exchange students came over, a couple of people were wearing that.

Although they paired it with really skinny jeans and American footwear =/.

How can you take someone seriously who looks like a dbag?

Here’s how I dress in the summer.

T-Shirts mostly. No graphic tees or anything. Maybe an Orioles or Ravens shirt or some other rather plain shirt. Occasionally a polo. Urban Outfitters is my go-to place. Then they are accompanied by tennis shoes (covered in another thread) with slightly above ankle socks and shorts. Standard shorts. Not super preppy and pink. Below the knee for sure. No knee can be visible IMO. Puts you in d-bag/nerd status.

DionteChristmas is right. Men don’t dress like preppy d-bags. Maybe in North Carolina or wherever you live it is popular but the general public disagrees. If you want to dress “LIKE A MAN” is should either be nice jeans and a nice t shirt or polo. Or a suit.

Mhm, I love lacoste <3
Ewww, skinny jeans and lacoste. What were they thinking?

Smilemyonly - I agree with you 100%. I think they rip you off on cheap clothing and you don’t even look mature, you look ridiculous.

smilemyonly:

Abercrombie/Hollister actually sell some decent jeans. Just find dark-washed, non-ripped and they are pretty nice.

^ Lol. I don’t even have a style. One day you’ll see me wearing a summer dress with high heels, and another day you’ll see me wearing a soccer jersey. I just wear what looks good :]

suit up! (yea i had to)

edit, b man, i was actually talking about hollister polos, the colors usually suck and look lame. But yea ripped jeans suck. I had a pair in middle school, how embarassing.

Guys can’t go wrong with a nice solid T-shirt (don’t care about brand) or button down. Something casual without looking over the top. I don’t mind graphic tees but they should be worn in moderation.

Just like girls need to wear dresses to school in moderation. I only bust out a dress every once in a while. Otherwise, it gets dull and overplayed.

Lacoste is euro trash. Why do American chicks support it?

diontechristmas- How does classy prep clothing make them look like a dbag? I think those punks who wear skinny jeans tighter than girls and straighten their hair to be hardcore look like dbags or wangsters/wannabe thugs.

I’m a huge fan of navy polos with light/medium washed jeans (that fit of course like that are in between bootcut and straight) and either white and silver Nike Shox, dockers, or super laid back like Adidas slides and socks.

Lacoste is ridiculously overpriced. I’m not paying $80+ for a plain polo with a miniscule crocodile insigna on it.

^
How dare you?

And maybe because it’s NOT TRASH. It looks good.

I think Lacoste sweaters are nice where you don’t see the logo but the logo on the polos looks stupid. I like Polo better than Lacoste.
