2010 Fashion Thread(Girls we need help)

Ok, so ima guy, obviously, and i was wondering what trends are nice this year? Now i understand that the classics like polo and jeans are always nice but anything specific, especially for guys since we lack in the fashion department. I know typically i wear Ralph Lauren Shoes with some nice jeans( Levis and luckys) with an american eagle shirt or something. Is that still acceptable for college guys? Ladies help us out whats hot?!?!?!

Wear what you like, but personally I don’t like guys in ed hardy or the polos with the collar flipped up… Seven for all mankind makes a great pair of men’s denim.

yeah i got the chance to wear them on a set once and they were super comfy, but kinda pricey if i remember.

I’m really into fashion and styling so hopefully I can help haha
For pants dark wash jeans (any brand is fine as long as they are not super skinny fit or have any embellishments) are fine, if you want a more formal or date look trousers are really cute.

Shirts from american eagle with logos or ed hardy shirts (ew) are a no in my book, I would recommend basic t-shirts, white, black, navy, gray in crew or v-necks (think stores like american apparel) paired with a dark blazer, hoodie or a cardigan(they look so hott on guys). Other options are simple button down shirts in plaid or darker colors, pull over sweaters with v-necks are also cute.

Definitely check out stores like american apparel, h&m, topman and regular department stores, they are inexpensive and really on trend so you can get more ideas and try new things.

Wear gray tshirts.

Wear basketball shorts.

That’s what I’ll do.

why are u asking here

these ppl are all ugly losers

Lol, I’m gay and I’m not nearly concerned as concerned about “fashion” as you are.
You seem kinda insecure about your clothes…self-confidence is more attractive than an outfit. It really shouldn’t matter, just don’t look sloppy.

**** what everyone else said.

Get these and look like a grown up…

spring/summer stuff:
-pocket tees/v-necks (only go for deep v-necks if you can pull it off; most can’t)
-chinos
-boat shoes/ vans eras

american eagle is pretty much dead even for young teenagers… the demographic has dramatically changed… many are going for a more “mature” look. levis are always a good thing. get raw denim/dark wash levis. just dress clean and have your clothes properly proportioned to your body. don’t have any thing that’s wrinkled or looking faded.

however, only wear what I suggested if it feels right, if it doesn’t, don’t bother.

It depends on your style. I’m really into colors (tie-dye shirts and colorful flannel shirts are an example). I’d feel awkward in black and gray all the time. Just don’t wear something that you don’t like just to fit in. That’s a reason why I hated high school. If you’re not looking for something to wear, but general color coordinating advice on clothes and subjects related to that, I would recommend picking up a book on that subject. Don’t look online for “tips”; many of the writers who give advice don’t know what they’re talking about.

An XXXL t-shirt and jeans that sag like hell. Get a belt and securely keep the waist of the jeans a few inches above your knees. Top it off with a 59Fifty baseball cap and some jordans. or boat shoes. even though you probably don’t work on a boat!

Nobody really cares what you dress like in college. There isn’t a clear “in-fasion” thing going on.

As long as you dress “decently” in something you feel comfortable in, you’re good to go. Stuff away the cliches and trends of high school, because it gets much more individualized in college.

interesting…
well as far as FASHION goes, look at sites like lookbook.nu and the sartorialist for really stylish inspiration. if you don’t want to go that far (and some of those looks are indeed far out). remember that both sites have girls and guys, it might take a little scrolling to find the guys.
i think no matter what gender you are, you have to find what works best for you, what you feel comfortable in (without repelling everyone, of course!), and something that reflects your personality.

@DCHurricane: actually, a lot of people wear 59fiftys not just gangsters lol. and dont complain about the boatshoes. i see where you’re coming from, but 90% of the people who wear boatshoes dont work on boats anyway!

Nah boat shoes are nice, I was just being silly.

I would recommend sticking with the college classics: button downs in various colors, shorts (NOT cargo shorts or shorts with little dolphins on them please; shorter length shorts are actually very in right now and don’t look metro when paired with a classic shirt), a pair of nice aviators. Please, no Croakies.

Get a few nice casual blazers for when it gets cold instead of just a sweatshirt. Also, try cardigans.

As for footwear, don’t wear flip flops, “athletic” sandals, or ratty sneakers. Get drivers, slip on loafers, or canvas sneakers for the day.

I second alexandra about checking out the Sartorialist blog. The guys he photographs are really damn stylish. You obviously don’t need to be rocking bespoke suits on campus but it’s nice to check out for inspiration. Guys who put some effort into their look but achieve the “effortless look” definitely get bonus points from me.

Would you guys recommend some blazers? I really want some decent ones but don’t know which brands to buy.

read and dissect what @icanread said. i like guys with style, not pink/yellow polos tucked into khaki shorts.
seriously girls will love you if you have edge…but make sure you like as well and not just doing cuz you want to fit in and stuff.
