This is bizarre.....and tragic....never thought of this area of Ann Arbor as unsafe

However, this particular street at night was usually completely deserted....at times it made one feel uneasy....

It looks like it might have been done by someone the victim knew. This has nothing to do with the overall safety of the area.

Even the safest areas, and Ann Arbor is relatively safe, is not going to be entirely crime free. This is definitely disturbing.

So sad- my condolences to his family and to the University.

I doubt it was a random killing. Nothing was taken from the apartment. Hopefully this will be figured out quickly. Homicides are extremely rare in Ann Arbor. The worst thing that can happen is that people become afraid to travel the streets.

I’m not trying to cause panic…it’s just so bizarre and 3 or 4 blocks from where I live.

I’ve never experienced anything too disturbing in Ann Arbor…even walking at night. Sometimes drunk people ask me for directions…but they are usually nice enough.

Was this the “Suspicious Death” email we got a few days ago?

This is definitely someone he knew, not random.

My condolences to his family and friends.

It wasn’t a shooting but they’re calling it a homicide. In the updated crime alert they said there were no visible injuries to the victim.

Ah yes would have been helpful to read the final sentence of the dps report.

I found it more disturbing that only a day after, we received another crime alert for two incidents of armed robbery at the arch in West Hall and on Church St… I doubt that this case is related to the homicide one, but it’s still concerning that a well-lit and frequently traveled spot on campus can be the site of such crimes.

I’m used to the normal stuff

girl gets drunk at frat house, frat stuff happens, reports sexual assault

Group of Asians / Hispanics / maybe white is walking around grabbing random females on the streets

Group of black males and armed robbery

Dumb students forgetting to lock their apartment doors

@ThisIsMichigan You are a racist !

Lol no I’m not. Those are just the most common crime alerts

Every time I hear this I think about this southpark clip…you need to wait until the end of the clip…

I don’t think Thisismichigan meant any harm. Perhaps he was just pointing out the painful reality of the alerts students regularly get throughout the year.

Any word or rumors on suspects for this homicide. I find it hard to believe that a house of over 20 people didn’t notice a gunshot. I occasionally walk by that house on my way to get a sandwich at Jimmy John’s around the corner. It always made me feel uneasy. They have no blinds or curtains, and the place is almost always deserted, so maybe nobody heard anything…still this is bizarre.

I know he may not be racist but he basically said every race besides white commit crimes at UMich “Maybe White” sound like a bigot to me and the last crime alert for armed robbery said middle eastern or black which is the worst description because black people and middle eastern people look nothing alike.

I think you’re reading into his comment maybe a little too much.

Haha haha, that’s what you think I said? Wow maybe you should read it again.

There is a difference between “all blacks at Michigan commit armed robberies” and “most armed robberies at Michigan are committed by black guys”.

Same with the sexual assaults randomly on the street. Usually groups to f guys. Only crime you’ll ever see an Asian as the suspect. White guys do to though.

Don’t forget I insulted girls that go to frat parties as well. I’m sure there are some that really do get drugged. But I’m guessing a lot of times they just drink too much and the report the next day is them trying to cover their ass. There was one alert last year that founded exactly like that.

I keep hoping there is breaking news on exactly what happened to this poor soul. RIP Paul DeWolf. :-(
