So, I’ve heard from a friend that construction on Faunce House (i.e. the Stephen Robert’s Campus Center) is completed. I was in there for ADOCH before I came, but all I’ve heard is that it’s “really, really nice.” Thoughts, comments, anyone been inside? Anything exciting or particularly interesting? Or, even better, any pics?

yeah, it’s wonderful! especially the area that opens down to the main green and the area where it connects to faunce arch.

i’ll try to take pictures tomorrow.

hahaha. it’s actually kind of weird to think that something so modern was built into something so old. (you’ll know when you see.) but no matter - still impressive, especially after last year’s anticipation.

Yeah, when I was there Faunce was like the last thing anyone would want to show on a campus tour: run down, plaster cracking, aged, and just generally showing (whether true or not) that Brown didn’t have the funds needed to take care of itself. If it’s now going to be the real center of campus life, that would be awesome indeed.

One of my Facebook friends has posted pictures (I obviously don’t feel comfortable posting them without her permission) which seem nice enough, though not the stunning change I had come to expect. Another one of my friends said he was very impressed with the renovations. I’ll be able to give my own judgment Monday when I return to campus.

holly, thanks for the tip that there is a Facebook page. That was cool to look at. And I notice that from now on, campus tours start from there – admissions office is closed to the general public.

How long will it take for people to stop calling it Faunce and start calling it Robert?

just for clarification, Faunce House was not renamed. The physical structure is still Faunce, and I imagine that the students will continue to call it thus. The Campus Center however is named the Stephen Robert '62 Campus Center at Faunce House. Don’t Forget that Faunce also includes Stuart Theater, which to my knowledge was not touched during renovation.
