I’ve heard a good deal about the various projects currently underway (or soon to be, anyway) at Brown, such as the fitness center and the renovation of the campus center, but I haven’t been able to find any type of list or schedule of current projects. I’m mostly just curious when things are happening…does anyone know?

Most of the major construction is set to be complete in 2009/2010.

This includes the Nelson Fitness Center, the Walk, the Creative Arts Building, the Renovation of J. Walter Wilson and Faunce, as well as the Mind Brain Science Building.

All of those things are pretty well underway (at least funding wise) except the Mind Brain Science building.

Search the Brown Daily Herald -- I think it just did an article listing many of the projects.

Building Brown

How 'Building Brown' will change the face of College Hill - Campus News

Hmm...i guess i didn't scour the Brown website as thoroughly as I thought.

Athletic and visual arts facilities are pretty important to me, so this is definitely good news. Now I need to get in.

Jay -- what's gonna be in the creative arts building?

And how can I get a pottery studio in there?

Honestly I wish I knew, the only answers I've gotten are, "You know, studio space, and stuff" type of responses.

I think they want more music and dance rehearsal studios and more art studio space as well as gallery space.

From the website:
"This new facility will feature a recital hall, recording studio, multi-media lab and studios. All space within the building will be assigned for multi-disciplinary work."

wow, now that they're building a new cog science building I HAVE to get in!

(although it won't be finished for a while)

yeah i read that. art studio space -- what exactly does that mean? i mean sounds like they might enjoy the idea of a pottery studio space? or photography? or wood shop? or all of it aka craft center?
