Favorite Book

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. :')

Academic: 1984
No-Academic: Either Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows or Ender’s Game

When I first read The Catcher in the Rye I loved it. When I read it a second time, I didn’t like it so much. Hmmm.

But I have enjoyed 1984, The Lovely Bones, The Great Gatsby and The Picture of Dorian Gray. That’s all I can think of right now.

It’s a tie between Other Voices, Other Rooms by Capote and The City and the Pillar by Vidal.

You guys will probably all laugh at my favorite book because it’s so non-academic

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen

Amazing.

Kama Sumtra by the ancient Indians.

JK LOL.

^LOL. 10chars

hahahaha. I can’t believe you :] I used to be obsessed with her books in 8th grade.

I agree with the Jane Austen comment. I can’t stand her books. Even Wuthering Heights was more enjoyable.

I can’t decide on my favorite book right now, but I remember that I really really liked The Book Thief. It’s narrated by a “sarcastic” Death during the Holocaust. The things he says are rather ironic. The first page was hilarious, but the rest of the book made me cry :[

It was an interesting book. I loved some of the things they said.
But the more she crammed her (strict) dogma into her books, the less human her characters became…

Same. I stopped reading them though. They’re all the same setup. Jaded girl meets free spirit boy, he de-jadifies (that’s so a word.) her and they prance off into happy land.
I like Laurie Halse Anderson’s books still.

haha. It’s the naive suckers like us that keep that cliche alive.

Maybe I’ll check out Laurie Anderson. I’m not into “chick flick” books anymore though…

No, Laurie Halse Anderson isn’t really chick-lit, there’s rarely any romance in them.
She’s a great writer.

My favorite was Fever 1793 which was about the Yellow Fever in the 1700s.
Another is Speak, I can’t remember what that was about, I think a girl was raped and she stops speaking? Or something like that. I haven’t read that in years.
And then she just released Chains, a book about a girl who’s living in slavery, and Wintergirls, about an anorexic who blames herself for her friends death.

Leave it to me to summarize each book in ten words or less.

I totally remember Fever 1793. The cover scared me, but it was pretty good. I was into historical fiction in 9th grade.

Lord of the Flies.

oooo, really good one desi… If sad, however… :(
